Dark Souls 2 Empty Dark Souls 2

So, recently my internet decided to go out and not work all that much starting last tuesday (and fixed an hour ago), so my lil' brother and I decide to visit one of his friends since we had nothing to do. Long story short, they end up going to play basketball outside while I, who wasn't feeling so well that day, had nothing to do but play with his friend's PS3. This friend of his owns a copy of Dark Souls 2... and nothing but soccer games. Huh.

So I went, "What the hell, I didn't like Dark Souls 1, but it was not a soccer game last time I checked, so might as well try it out."

And I played for 5 or so hours nonstop, offline mode. I don't know what they did, but in DS2 they must have fixed something that bugged the hell out of me in DS1 (so much I couldn't play past the first hour), because this is the first game in a long long long long while that I felt really invested.

I could feel myself getting better, and it culminated in that session with myself being able to melee old knights in heide's tower of flame without taking a single hit, which felt really good. The Pursuer kicked my ass when he appeared, and crying revenge, I go back to the place but he never appeared again. The ballista room ambush was a problem until I abused the ladder nearby. And with each death meaning going back to the last bonfire, you MUST get better and use everything you can to get further. And then it was time to go home.

So yeah, just felt like sharing the frustratingly fun ride I was able to have because I had no internet access.

Now excuse me while I buy it on steam, now that my internet is back.

This game has bosses, like the pursuer, that don't wait around for you to go to them. It also gives you more surprises with each playthrough in that department.

You mean, on a new game+ or just new characters? Because if that's the first, that adds so much more longevity for this game it's insane.

I know at least one instance on NG+ that a boss will intercept you earlier on in the level, where it wouldn't in NG, so yeah. Also, enemy placement changes in some parts, bosses drop new rewards, etc. There's more to subsequent playthroughs of this game than just enemies being stronger.

Ok, so after I posted the last post, my internet died after I was able to download DS2 from steam. Until today, when a tech guy came and fixed the internets. The reason was stupid, some ISP tech guy being lazy when he first installed the line added two lines, hoping for redundancy. It didn't matter until one of the lines started to fail. Meh.

Anyways, I'm just posting to say that, wow, Dark Souls 2 online is a MUCH better game than the offline experience was. The phantom visages, summon signs and invasions make for a much better game, even if you can't communicate with each other by anything but gestures. Damn game is so freaking immersive, and I'm so damn glad I bought it. Also, going hybrid is actually pretty fun in a game like this. Hooray for sword and board and casting and jumping!
