OOC Thread
This is a thread for questions and general rules discussions for the Exchange. If you would kindly sticky it for us Arch that would be greatly appreciated.
To get us started:
1. What is Glittermuck again? I have three bags of it and I can't for the life of me remember what it does.
2. Zeiss also wants to know if he activated Air Vent if Advoc would benefit from it as well. He's asking because he remembers that when Fierneceal erased Advoc's memories, it also erased Zeiss'.

1: Glittermuck is actually pretty similar to what it sounds like. It's a gluebag which also has some Woven magical properties that make it more enticing than it otherwise would be. More for use against animals than people, but still.
2: Hm. Normally I'd say yes but due to the nature of what the Air Vent power actually is I will say no.
Also good idea for a thread.

Re: OOC Thread
Hey Arch.
So I talked with Kolson, and we were wondering if we could switch from the daily format we have for the Exchange to a weekly one, for whenever we restart this side of the forum campaign. We prefer it this way since we get more feedback on our decisions, and it would save you lots of time. If you do accept, we would also like to know until which date we should plan our next actions, since we don't know how far ahead the live campaign is.
Thanks.

Whatever works best for you works best for me. Sorry I've been utterly swamped, which is why I haven't moved things forward yet. *rubs eyes* I uhm, I had a few ideas to toss at you to get you caught up, especially since it's possible the live campaign will start heading your way, uhm, TODAY. But I don't want to take agency away from you.

Re: OOC Thread
Don't worry, we understand that your work has priority. And sure, feel free to share those ideas with us. In the eventuality that the live party somehow interacts with the Exchange, I'm sure Sareth or my elven ambassador could take charge of any on-screen conversations.
Me and Kolson were actually thinking of pulling out of the political game if we discovered that the Queen was a good alternative to the Separatists and the Lords. We never wanted to rule after all; not on that field anyway.

Never wanted to rule, pffft. Suuuure. Roll my eyes.
*ahem* No I was thinking of doing a few off camera things to bolster your ideas. I liked the shadow depository idea a lot, and the... butterfly inn or whatever it was called. But given the current, ah, situation the Exchange is likely going to have to either take a side or try to play the sides off each other.

Re: OOC Thread
Okay, we would like to rule, but it sounds too much like an hassle. Ruling the remnants of the Undermarket, less so.
It's called the Black Butterfly by the way. For now, we'll keep playing the sides off each other, but considering how involved we've put ourselves in, we know that sooner or later, we're gonna have to pick a side. It really depends on how that supposed meeting with the Queen turns out. We're basically going there to gauge her true intentions and confirm who she has allied herself with.

Just biding our time basically. If we wait long enough a few of the big players may knock each other off and leave us a good opportunity for expansion. We'll see.

What a bunch of charming brutes. Perhaps rephrase by replacing "ours" with "what belongs to the Kingdom of Aluvia or its constituents". Maybe run through all the different nations just to be sure. I can tell already that this is going to be very irritating for you guys.

Yeah, Kolson and me talked about it, but we're waiting to get an actual discussion going before we get to specifics. Now, we're just introducing them to a new concept.

Assuming Rory finds out what you guys learned, he shall be very cross indeed. Enough to try and tear down everything the Vyeotians built at the cost of the comfortable living standard his fellow humans have been elevated to. Maybe even some of their lives.

We'll see if we even come back from the Dryreach Zone in one piece to tell you guys... and without new pieces added to our bodies.

Re: OOC Thread
You know, if anyone had said I'd be playing the mostly same forum campaign for most of 3 years in a row I don't know if I'd have believed them. I remember that chaotic time when we were all making characters and so many of the players had no prior experience. I did my best to help out those I could and funny enough I have the good fortune to still be playing with a good portion of those guys, in this game and in others. We've kicked the tires on the Primus setting, met many people, and did a lot of things, most of which probably weren't that important from a big picture point of view but hey, we weren't the most functional party back then.
But I find, after so long, that things aren't so grand anymore. I don't charge out into the fray with the same gusto I did. And dying in slow motion these past few weeks have really let me think about that and why. This setting is a dark one. There's a lot of shadowy conspiracies and other assorted ner'do'wells up to no good. It's the kind of setting were you work damn hard to earn what you get and that sacrifices of the worst sort will be payed by you and your allies as a matter of course. After 3 years it's exhausting to say the least.
So with our impending deaths or transition into whatever comes next I think it's the right time to step away and retire the characters. I've also decided that I have no interest in rerolling. It's not a matter of not wanting to play with you and the others again, but a matter of campaign and world tone. Their just coffee to me. Arche, it's been an honor and a privilege to play in your game and I wish you nothing but the greatest success. Thank you.

Re: OOC Thread
Well, Kolson worded it really well. I don't have much to add, except that while I greatly enjoy the empire management of the Exchange, and would have kept enjoying it if I continued to play, the recent discoveries we made have proven that heroism is a concept that is falling in desuetude in this world. But more importantly, Zeiss and Kolson are a team in this, and we can't have one without the other when it comes to the Exchange. So yes, we'll retire the characters, and like Kolson said, we're not planning to reroll. We've had tons of fun, and thank you for that Arch.

Re: OOC Thread
Well that sucks. I'll think of something more in depth to say when I'm not suffering a middle of the night cluster headache, but the immediate question comes to mind of what you want done with your characters? I usually give preference to players for obvious reasons.

Re: OOC Thread
If you decide not killing them is a good idea how about having Kolson stay with the Tumerok? They desperately need someone to teach them how to be not terrible. I think he could do it. Though he won't lie to them about hating them. I think it would make for an interesting and amusing dynamic.

Re: OOC Thread
Oh, thanks Arch.
I think that's it. Thank you for GMing for us Arch. It was really fun.
- Report back to the Queen, and join the Eleven? Here's what Zeiss will do once this encounter is over; learn as much about the Tumeroks before he leaves the Dryreach Zone (and do a deal with them on behalf of Aluvia if they agree, maybe to resolve the food issue), then go back to the Queen. Report everything we learned to her, and our suspicions about the racketeering methods they used to get the humans and Tuskers on their side. Zeiss also wants to work closely with the Eleven and the Queen's faction, and he'll continue to expand the Exchange as their ally, and maybe one of their members one day. It is clear he wants to destroy the Vyeotians' leadership, but unraveling their lies may be the best method to do so, not direct force.
- Create an alliance to oppose the Vyeotians. Zeiss also wants to create an alliance of people who will oppose the Vyeotians. To the people or factions that are likely to believe him about the Vyeotians, Scions and other organizations of this world, he will tell them what he knows and recruit them to his side. To those who wouldn't believe him, he will instead learn what their agenda are, and manipulate them into opposing the Vyeotians. Not sure in which category the Order would fall, but they're a candidate. In fact, every faction on the continent is a candidate if they're not working already with the Vyeotians.
- Create a Heroes Guild. Very important; this alliance not only needs people with a lot of political power, but also people with personal power. So, recruit as much heroes/adventurers as we can. Starting with the other party. Gotta find them, and tell them everything we learned.
- Become an NPC of Goodness. As for Zeiss, his attitude will change. He'll try to act more like Advoc would do; show more compassion, and less apathy. He will struggle with this, but that's the goal. In D&D terms, Zeiss is becoming a quest giver who is struggling with his evil side, and works with the good guys to become one. However, he will also participate in some fights, when he can.
I think that's it. Thank you for GMing for us Arch. It was really fun.

Re: OOC Thread
Add another objective.
- Create a library where history, knowledge and books of fiction are stored, independently of the Order. Because you cannot trust people who can rewrite history. Do it secretly, and gather from all over the continent and the Lassels.

Re: OOC Thread
Well I'll have to retcon a few things but I'll try to figure out a way for you guys to escape.
So... the original idea was, since you guys had retired, the npcs were now story-constructing tools, right? So I had them relegated to the trophy pile the tumerok have as a way of revealing that particular aspect of their culture, and with the intent to have that turn around someday in the future (revolution etc.). Obviously if you two want to be... doing things that's not possible, so we'll nix that, but the uh escape clause I had built in had you two being let go by the Tumerok in service to the Vyeotians on behalf of the Exchange. Which I get the weird feeling you don't want to do (call me crazy). So I'll have to figure out a way for you two to survive and escape at the same time. Let me think on it.

Also trophies? <facepalm> God they are horrible. Is that where Kolson's dad is?
