1st adventure: the Fey one

Mihai shrugs. You'll find out soon enough. And follows her in.

Steve frowns at the mention of his old teacher going but follows along to find out what this is about.

Velstar is sitting at one of the benches, and looking at an unconscious Igor. She stands up as soon as she sees Fedler enter the room. "You're all back here?"

"Yes," replies Fedler. "Something new came up."

The hunter waits for everyone to gather around. She then slowly puts her hand in one of her pockets, and brings out an humanoid creature around 10 to 15 centimetres tall, which she lets sit in the palm of her hand. The little creature has the appearance of a female human with short blue hair, and wears small rags that must have come from an old toy.

"I'm never getting back in there!" says the strange being with a high-pitched voice. "It's all tiny, and it smells like old apples!"

She then proceeds to... "grow" dragonfly wings out of her back.

"Aah! Much better!" She realizes that a small amount of people are looking at her. She seems embarrassed for a second, but then happily says, "Hey guys! How you doing?"

She waves her hand to you.

OOC:

"Pretty good for a bunch of morons I'd say," Steve says, not missing a beat. "See, we told you there was a fairy."

She puts her hands on her hips, puffs out her chest and says proudly, "Yup! I'm a fairy! That's what Yen said anyway!"

Irving, Saemon, and Velstar are staring at the little creature.

The fairy starts to rapidly flap her wings, and hovers in front of you.

"Oh, I'm Breeze. That's the name Yen gave me. I already know Mihai," she waves at him, "...but you forgot the old guy with no hair." She points at the mayor.

"My name is Irving," he reveals, almost managing to sound composed.

OOC:

"Who says I forgot him." Steve mutters to no one in particular.

Well what do you know, they just walked off and grabbed her. "So you made a new friend, what is this, show and tell? Lady, Mihai, what did I say about going back into the forest, huh?" Konrad admonishes gently, exasperated with Mihai's early penchant for wandering off. "And you ventured out into the wilderness to invite this...creature, out of legends and myths - however delightful - back to town, like you were on a picnic?"

Breeze's eyes grow very large.

"There are legends and myths about me?"

She seems very pleased at this idea. Velstar and Saemon have started to examine the little creature from different angles. Breeze finds this behavior a little weird at first, but she then finds fun in taking heroic poses.

To Irving, in a hush tone - "He's fresh out of school."

To Konrad - *shrug* - "She was here with us earlier, but there were too many people gawking to just pull her out of the bag. More importantly, not a word about this to anyone. Especially the blonde (the Oracle)."

Yeah, 'cause they've been so sensible and level headed so far, but it's not really them i'm worried about. I know you went into the Inn just before i left with Steve and Fedler to catch those herbs. And you heard me at least once now, saying the person in there is trying to capture the Fairy. I'm sure you can do the math.

"I said nothing of the sort, Steve did. Not that it's any less true; her help would be invaluable fighting the Wolf, seeing as it seems to like attacking her far more than it does us. But there's something bigger than that going on here."

Mihai takes a step forward to address the room, his voice firmer than before.

"If we're all finished gawking, let's get down to business. Breeze, tell us again about the wolf's mental condition."

Breeze has been flying above your heads to show off her capabilities to an amazed audience, namely Velstar, Saemon, and Irving. She stops the moment she hears Mihai call her name, and proceeds to land on his head. She then slowly kneels down, and peeks over the edge to look at his eyes.

"You want me to say what about the wolf?"

Mihai frowns - sigh "What you said twice now about it not being Mad."

"Oh! Oh yeah, the wolf is not mad."

She lies back on Mihai's head to relax. Velstar and Saemon can barely contain themselves. "What do you mean it's not mad!?" asks a Saemon in shock. "The amount of raw magic pouring out of it, it can only be mad!"

Breeze rolls her eyes. "It's not mad, you dummies! Its thoughts are clear. I can tell."

"Wait a minute," interjects Velstar. "You can read its thoughts?"

"Of course I can't," replies Breeze with an exasperated tone. "But I just look at it, and I see clear thoughts. Just like all of yours."

She looks around for a bit, searching for something.

"Anyone has anything to eat?"

"She likes candy." - Mihai adds, without much thought, - "Anyway, let's move past the disbelief part for a second."

He continues, with all the focus and directness of someone without a Fairy lying on his head.

To Velstar - "If it's not Mad, what could it be then?"

Velstar responds without missing a beat. "Impossible."

Without missing a beat either - "Impossible happened when that thing stopped cold when it could have flared our heads off back at the Forest. And impossible is lying on my head right now. So it has to be something."

"If it's not mad, one might assume it could be..." - he looks weird, searching for the word - "...evil? But then, it still deliberately stopped cold right in front of our noses. Not only that, it was smart enough to sneak up on the other Adjuncts that are lying dead north of here, but announced it's presence when it approached us. Even a normal wild animal wouldn't do that, let alone a wolf. It might be intelligent."

"Oh. Yeah, you may be onto something there."

Konrad's only shaking his head. "Well if we're entertaining the idea, in fact, it only worries me further. It suggests that the wolf is intentionally going after humans. It's rare, but large predators have been known to hunt and kill people..."

"Well, it killed the animals in it's Den, too. Or at least something did."

He considers for a second.

"No... it may have an agenda. The Adjuncts it killed had..." - he shifts his attention - "Breeze, tell us how that encounter went down. From the moment you met them to when they were killed."

"Mihai, please, it's just an animal," Konrad dismisses. "An animal that attacks people with raw magic. Even if it were intelligent, we really can't be bothered, it's still a threat. The people of Waterglass don't have the resources, and we don't have the time."

to Konrad - "This is the only time. You can ignore all you've seen and heard here and keep thinking this is still as simple as just a cursed animal, but we're gonna have to face it down one way or the other. I want to know everything i can about it before i go out there, and i'm not gonna be pigheaded about it."

He keeps waiting for Breeze.

Breeze pouts a little.

"Still hungry..."

She listens to Konrad, then says, "Scarface, I already told you its thoughts looked like yours. Animals are so much simpler." The fairy now stands up, and through a combination of jumping and hovering, she lands on one head before going for the next one. She keeps rotating between all of you while she tells her story.

"I managed to escape from those stupid people at the old ruins. They're waiting for someone. Then, I tried to find a place to hide until the mean lady left the village."

"The mean lady?", asks Fedler.

"Yeah, the blonde on the other side of the street." Breeze points at where the inn is. "A few days ago, I met some people in the forest who said they were working for the Coins. They looked like a fun bunch, adventuring and rescuing! I told them I didn't want to go back to the mean lady, and they said they would take me in, make me a member of the Coins! But the big bad wolf was sneaking up on us, and it killed them."

She stops jumping, and stays on Steve's head this time. She looks down with a sad expression on her face.

"...They were nice. I just flew away, and didn't look back. After that, I met Yen."

Konrad shrugs. "I suppose you could try talking to it, if our fairy's information is correct, but this isn't about knowledge, it's about what we can afford, and we have neither the resources nor time to merit risking the long play. Right, Steve?"
