The fairy brings them to the first room in the north wing, where everything needed to cook is; a stove, a cupboard, clean water, a woven refrigerator to keep the food fresh, a storage closet, and a few other amenities. Just as the trio is taking stock of what is available, Fedler walks into the kitchen with Mihai behind her.

"What are you making?" asks the redhead.

Konrad smiles with relief as the power couple comes in. "Ah good, there's a real cook in the house. Probably fish and crab soup. In a...tomato broth? With carrots? It's for Zelk, she's awake now."

Konrad shrugs. "Of course I did. We are a team, after all. We fight as a team. We make decisions as a team. Besides, you need it more than I do." He will glance over at Fedler and smile. It's almost like his choice of words is some subtle apology to her...

"Glad to hear it, says Fedler. She gives Konrad a discreet nod, and approaches the woven refrigerator to look inside."Good, they have milk. And cheese." She takes stock of the storage closet. "We could prepare some broccoli cheddar soup. How does that sound?" she asks, as she turns to look at the rest of the party.

"Sounds amazing." Really, it does. Broccoli is the devil in veggie form, but it goes down easier with...toppings. "It's just missing one thing though. Meat."

OOC: There's your problem Rory. Broccoli Cheddar soup is supposed to be cheddar soup with bits of broccoli in it for somethings to chew on, not the other way around. Very Happy

"That sounds good to me but why don't we make two soups? We have enough people for it. Let me just check their meat options and see what we can do on that front."

He begins digging through the ingredients muttering under his breath as he mentally sifts through the soup recipes Velstar taught him. "We have pork, white beans, and I have some dried tomatoes in my rations. Oh and kale! Yes! Okay, just once question everyone: Spicy or non-spicy?"

"Spiciness is better when it's added during the cooking," comments Fedler. "But I'll make sure it's not too spicy, since the red mage is so sensible."

She smirks at Konrad.

"I like spicy stuff too!" adds Breeze, who is sitting on top of an onion.

"Looks like we have a majority. Let's get to work."

Fedler supervises Operation Tasty Soup, and she makes sure that everyone has a job to do; Mihai gets to cut the vegetables (which despite being a simple enough job, she has to show him multiple times how to do it right), Breeze cuts slices of bread (she moves the knife with a telekinetic minor spell), Konrad prepares the meat ("No red meat in a soup."), while she shows Steve how to do the rest. It takes a full hour of work, and the appetizing smell quickly spreads through the monastery. At one point, the little girl they saw earlier comes in the kitchen to ask Breeze what they're making.

"A spicy pork and beans soup, and a broccoli cheddar soup!" replies Breeze.

The girl, who's seven or eight years old, is named Saria. Her brother Volwind follows her into the kitchen to take her back to their room, but she asks if she can help the group.

"Sure," replies Fedler. "You and your brother can set up the tables for your friends. Okay?"

With the most serious expression a little girl can manage, she nods multiple times. Saria and Volwind quickly get to work, and soon enough, everything is ready.

"Konrad," starts Fedler. "Can you go see the monks and invite them for dinner? Steve, you go take a bowl of soup to Zelk, whichever you think she would prefer. Just make sure that the others come to eat when you do. Mihai, you help me serve the soups."

"And me?" asks the fairy.

"You greet everyone that comes to eat, of course."

"Got it!"

"Not sensitive, love. I just have a moderate and refined palate."

Interesting, does she know all the minor spells? Konrad will suggest to Breeze that she try out the various minor spells he knows of besides the Life and Spacial ones. Later.

When Fedler's showing/instructing people how to do food good, he replies, "There is no red meat, love. Besides, it's not how I prefer my beef."

Konrad will nod and go vist the monks when the soup is ready. How much did we make?

Konrad knocks at the door where he thinks one of the monks might be. It slides open, and he sees that the three stoic disciples are there. Valor, the woman who was looking after the children, is the one who answered the door. The window is also open.

"Yes?" she asks. "Is there a problem?"

They appear drained of all energy.

"Okay." He pours a bowl of the spicy pork for her and a bowl of broccoli cheddar for himself and carefully walks it back to her room. When he gets to the sliding door he's relieved to find it open. "Hi guys, soups on. You have your choice between broccoli cheddar and spicy pork with white beans. Most everyone is gathering in the dining room to eat."

"Oh, great," says Fredrick with a sigh. "Adam here was just starting to sound hungry."

"I didn't," replies the tall soldier.

"Yes you did," confirms Naomi.

"I didn't," he repeats.

"Yes you did," adds Zelk.

"Fine. I did."

"Let's go eat," announces Fredrick. As he walks out of the room, he points to Steve. "You. We leave our lieutenant in your care. Make sure she eats three times a day, take her out for a walk at least twice a day, and be careful that she doesn't ruin the furniture with her claws. She's also known to bite.

"Get your ass out of here, Fred," admonishes Zelk.

"Come on, bigmouth," interjects Naomi. She grabs him by the arm. "Leave these two alone."

The door closes, and the black mages are left alone.

"Which soup have you got for me then?" wonders the young woman.

The squad members enter the dinner area.

"Wow," is the first word that comes out of Fredrick's mouth. "You prepared all of this for us? Two whole cauldrons?"

"There should be enough for all of us," explains Fedler. "Including the monks."

"I wanna sit with Breeze," says Saria.

"Fine," replies Volwind. "Just don't try to pick her wings off."

"I won't," retorts the little girl, still completely serious. "I really thought she was a toy."

"Well, she isn't."

"I wear toys' clothes though!" specifies the fairy.

Everyone sits down at the table. Adam looks at Mihai's hands.

"That's new," he comments.

I want to convince them to get something to eat. If they already want to, then I want to cheer them up with my warm and gentle demeanor. I'm not the same person who winked at that one monk earlier for funsies, or wore that fake pretender smile whenever Avalon was around, or threatened people who were in my way.

The monks appear surprised. They exchange glances.

"...Thank you," replies Valor. "We will join you."

Leon and Suzy stand up, and they all walk towards the dinner area.

Adam chuckles. Just a little.

Right at this moment, the monks enter the hall. They notice that the tables have been arranged to be closer to each other. The only male disciple of the group, named Leon, steps forward and bows.

"Thank you," he tells the group. "We appreciate your consideration."

"It's the least we could do," replies Fedler, a little shy. "Please, sit down."

They do so in silence. The front door opens, and Conan appears. He slowly approaches everyone.

"Can I join you?" he asks.

"Spicy soup for the spicy lady. Do you feel well enough to sit up with me or would you like some pillows?" He carefully sets the steaming bowls of soup on the floor next to her and then waits for her answer.

Once everything is set up, she takes the bowl of soup in her hands, and looks at it.

"We've never did that."
