I don't see it being a glaring issue with which I have a stick to shake at. I guess I'm of a similar mind to K, but let's go ahead and keep this course. If it helps, could you point out a few instances in the past where you did throw a "Kobayashi Maru" at us?

Well I've yet to throw a kobyashi maru at the party, just at a few individual members, to answer that question.  I think I'll go ahead and decline and see if the other... attempted fix works Monday.

I do a bit of everything when I GM though I try to shove the greatest possibilities of death into the moments that matter. A good example will be our inevitable confrontation with Gaerlan. If the possibility of death wasn't high he wouldn't be a very interesting boss/challenge/puzzle now would he?

Anyway, keep experimenting and find out when these situations are appropriate and satisfying for you and the players. You may find that a very few but highly effective ones to be more your style like I did.

So stuff we have to do:

Do a memorial thing.

Go look at Janwall and Irondell.

Talk to the bugs.

Investigate the epicenter of the blast and discover that there is no sign of either ship, and get a report on the status of the mine.

Pick up Fierneceal and Kez when they've finally returned.

Go to Holtburg and talk to Bonebreaker.

Visit a temple.

I'd grab a ton of iodine for your thyroid if you're planning to go anywhere near the epicenter of that crater, Rory. And write up a will, just in case.

C'mon, you see the word "atom" and you start nailing up the nuclear hazard sign. The cloud got absorbed back into the Ley Lines, I'd venture a guess that the Ley Lines absorbed whatever hazard you think might have been left behind.

I don't know if we are going to use the Exit materia, Z's translation or the Skyclaw to leave the Marblebush area, but I'm not exposing myself to radiation. Especially when Kolson told me you guys had to roll fortitude rolls to go outside. Razz

Radiation, c'mon. It's not "irradiated". But yes we did roll, and I don't know if we are gonna have to roll again. Probably not.

K did roll to determine if this was similar to the Dead Wastes on Vesayen, but it might be in an early stage. Back on the Lassel the people did put a fort within the Dead Wastes to study it(which I'd like to point out is MASSIVE by comparison). Arch, remind me again how that went. Did they build the fort before or after the Dead Wastes were created? Also, the people in the fort died within...I wanna say 3 days? I'm sorry, I've lost some of the important details.

The Dead Wastes is actually smaller than this incident (both are on the updated map).  The fort was constructed hastily and on the fly by Telvanni who were there at the behest of a Telvanni Lord and died under mysterious circumstances within about 2 days.

You didn't, Zeiss. And if this is like the Dead Wastes, it may not be too hazardous right now, but it will be soon, and it will not go away. You are going to have to leave, and you are going to have to roll Fort.

I guess once we get to Holtburg we could have Kolson and Tia use the Exit materia to teleport to a safe place at the mine, if there is a safe place in or around it. If neither are the case, they should know right away since Exit has to take them to a safe, survivable place. They can wait for Exit to charge up for 10-20 minutes(while claiming the mine if it's not too far gone) while we have Rekarg teleport us to Arwic. Once we get there, we can wait for Tia and Kolson to Exit to Arwic also. Shouldn't be too long, right? And then we can head to the Light temple together.

Snarg, make sure you ask Radnaal about the Provincial Trading Company. Wow, I really get the feeling of sounding like a broken record...

Hey there's an idea, what if Sareth joined up with Trenaran and fled with her group?

Heh, don't know how many times I'll need to keep saying this but the Exit Materia's destination is the first random safe place it can find. I have no control over where it will put me or my passengers. Therefore, it is a tool of the last resort, not a viable means of conveyance.

Okay! New plan! Aww crap, Rekarg's Exit spell works the same way. But he can still set places connected to Ley Lines as destinations, For some reason. Okay!

Black=Mundane transportation method.
#0--You start here. Maybe.
#1--First Me and Snarg will look at towns.
#2--We talk to bugs.
#3--We travel around the north side of the Evil crater and try to reach the mine.
#4--We use Rekarg to teleport to Holtburg.
#5--We use Rekarg(super effective) to teleport to Arwic.
#6--We travel to the Light Temple with Steedale set as a waypoint, so then Zeiss can do his Green Mage thing while we get to do awesome trials.

I can't believe you're like "I need to go do this right away with or w/o everyone!" Zeiss. At least Hanuel had some patience. Can I get some expo for this? I thought going to the temple of your elemental affinity was only required to unlock classes or awaken a Green Mage's full potential, where does Green Mage stability enter the picture?

Now I wouldn't mind trying to preach the Exchange gospel in Steedale, if it weren't way behind rival bloc lines. Maybe we could travel from Holtburg to a nearby town rumored to be having issues needing solved(or just to Falconwynne, Starryham, Fairpond, or Blackrust, take your pick), do some Exchange work there, then teleport to Arwic. Maybe mention our affiliation to the Exchange when in Steedale--in passing, of course, merely just to spread the word of our awesomeness.

Rekkarg's ability to travel between Ley Lines, Hubs and places like the Garden is different than the Exit spell. But he must be connected to a Ley Line or a Hub to do so. Let's call it the Dericost teleportation, or something like that, to make the distinction.

And I assume Rory that when you are asking for some "expo", you want me to explain why Zeiss wants to leave so quickly for the Light Temple? Well, there are many strong reasons to do so in-character, which I am not telling you OOC. And I'll tell the rest of the players here, but it is very probable that he will also go somewhere else after he is done with his Trial. I sent a PM to Arch about this, so I'm gonna have to wait for his approval to confirm it. It would be like when Z left the party to do her own thing for a bit.

Also, I doubt we are going to leave the Marblebush zone by walking outside. I imagined using the Exit materia, Z's ability to translate or waiting for the Skyclaw to come pick us up.

Also Arch? Can we say that I made Advoc join the others outside to see the crater? Which would allow Zeiss to "see" the result of the explosion by mind linking with his aspect. After all, the summoning left him a little dizzy and it would not be strange for him to send Advoc while he rested.
