Javan attempts to keep himself neutral over the whole thing, his mild migraine helping mask his surprise over Sethos' name drop. "Alright. You all gave me something to consider. Please leave your contact info and I'll get in touch as soon as I've reached a definitive conclusion. Thank you for your time."

After seeing the guests out, the dragoon prepares to leave in order to search for Sethos. He should have information on what's going on the region, the state of the kinda-of-civil war, not to mention the current human situation.

Higaide gets up from the wounded man, walks up to Rory and grabs his massive arm.

"Put. Him. DOWN!" - he barks, with an edge to his voice that's never quite been there before.

This shocks Rory out of his rampage. He ceases all violent conduct. The oppressed human's feet are finally back on the ground, but Rory does not let him go.

Higaide grabs the guy's arm; not to hurt him, just for emphasis.

"Tell him what he wants to know, so he'll let go of you and i can help your friend."

The man, who is staring at Rory and doesn't quite acknowledge Higaide, mutters something under his breath you can't quite catch about how if this is what this new world does to their people, then he wants no part of it. It's not said in a tone of disdain or sarcasm, but in quiet shock. Rory's second Intimidate check has been so successful he is now paralyzed with fear, and gives no other answer to the situation.

Right about now a few people in the distance have noticed the unconscious, bleeding man at both of your feets, and are shouting for the guards.

Higaide deflates.

"Let him go, Rory. He's broken." - he mutters, dejected - "We have to get out of here."

If Rory hesitates or protests or just doesn't comply, Higaide will shout "NOW!!". You can tell he's deadly serious, and very much pissed off.

Rory furiously condemns the man's silence. "Gods damn you, you're killing us all! March on blindly to your doom then, I wouldn't save you if I could!"

Higaide catches the man before he falls to the ground (i'm assuming he would, all things considered), grabs his hand and puts X (amount to be determined) Gold in it.

"Take this, and take your friend.." - if the guy seems like he doesn't even notice Higaide's there (i'm assuming he won't, considering his state), he'll tighten his grip slightly and get right in front of his face - "LISTEN! Take this gold; get your friend to a healer. Ask the guards to help you. Do it!" - his tone conveying urgency, rather than aggression.

Then he bolts.

Rory and Higaide have no trouble managing to scamper away and make their way to the hideout. Thankfully the sight of Humans in the area isn't that unusual so no one immediately marks them as they make it back to the barn on the outskirts of the city.

Higaide can decide for himself how much gold he wants to leave, since even a single gold is a fairly large amount of money.

They go pass Javan on the way back, who is at the moment asking around town for information, and a bit confused as their current state.

5 Gold (I'm assuming he can get the best care on the planet and low orbit with that amount, plus whatever reconstructive surgery there might be, transportation and whatnot - please tell me otherwise if i'm wrong).

Javan raises an eyebrow at their comrades and turns his head curiously as they pass through, deciding to follow them the best he could in order to tell them about Sethos being around.

Rory sits in the hay, fiddling over what happened. "We need to find Sethos. The sooner we find him, the closer we get to saving our people, hopefully pointing us away from this city."

Higaide stands by the entrance to the barn, looking outside. It takes him a while to respond "Like you saved those two, back there?" in a tone made of ice.

He blinks, not turning, not looking. Higaide's rebuking words must have bit well. "We need to find Sethos. We need to find out where he is or get his trail. That group we were talking to, they won't leave the city. Sethos told them not to, but is it for the same goal as ours? I don't know if we can trust him."

Higaide keeps looking outside. It takes a while for him to respond, enough for his hands to to ball into fists hard enough to tremble a few times "We'll search the local plantations for their headquarters. We'll be able to get more information there."

He stays quiet for a few moments, then adds - "I'll do the talking."

His tone is still icy, and will probably remain so for a while.

Rory stands up. "Me? I'm the savior of his friends and family! Everything I've ever done has been for the survival of our race! You him, and the countless others we moved into our Exchange hideout! If he couldn't show even a speck of gratitude, a broken jaw seems like fair trade to me."

The words come fast and snappy, like jets of water bursting through a breaking dam, reacting to the caving structure.

The ultimatum causes Rory to subdue his belligerent manners. "You'd let my mistakes along the way decide how committed you are to your own people? Too many are at risk of dying or worse, and fewer help means our chances of saving them grow slimmer."

"Leaving the toilet seat up is a mistake. Punching a man's jaw off could be a mistake, but when you trumpet how right you are in doing what you did, that's saying you got no problem with doing it again. That you've got no problem trampling on whomever, over whatever minor offense happens to tick you off, destroying our chances of getting information, ruining our standing with the people we're trying to help, and sabotaging our efforts, all because you can't stop thinking with your fists!"

Higaide takes a breath through gritted teeth for a second before continuing.

"So yes. If you prove that your commitment won't win over your temper and just end up bringing misery to my people, i'll sooner help them on my own than be a part of it."
