The Leycite Empty The Leycite

Post by Archengeia Fri Mar 29, 2013 1:40 am

The party has come across an artifact of tremendous power and potential.  It can be sold off to any dozen interested buyers for tremendous amounts of resources, favors, gold, or a combination thereof, at the level of companies, organizations, and nations.  This would likely aid the party in acquiring more provincial power.

Or they can try to utilize it themselves to some means or ends, which is another decision to be made should this path be chosen, in order to acquire more personal, private power.

The only person I can think to give/hang onto it would be that gnome working on the cure for Desolation.
Beyond that, I don't think it would be wise to keep it ourselves without a secure storage location (like the magical maze where we got it from.) Without that, I think selling it off and investing the profits would be our best bet. (I'm still thinking eventual airship for the group.)

from what Arch said it can be woven with but if me or kolson did it it would us the Laycite all up, a quote from arch (off the top of my head) was it would take someone of Great skill to siphon it a bit at a time, now the 1 item we could make would be really powerful but it would be only 1 item and we most likely wouldn't get the fullest out of it.

now how i see it the Laycite is worth more to one of the 4 nations of Dereth or the Order or Praxis that it ever would be to us as we cant use it properly now if me and kolson were 6 or 10 levels higher we MAY and i stress the word may be able to use it.

my Vote goes for selling it but it has to be handled cairfuly as 1 i dont want to lose it and 2 i want to get the best price i can for it.

Tab will in no way try to weave with it he knows he isnt skilled enoth to use it right and i would advise that kolson do the same.

EDIT: zeiss said we can get money our self's i dont think you get just how much money this thing is worth, im thinking that the kind of money we will get from selling it could get half the group trained and geared up as freelancers and still have lots left over and still have money to buy an airship.

it is priceless to other people, to us its a lump of light rock that may be of some use to us in 10 or 15 levels.

i arnt saying go to the market and ask the local shopkeep if he would like to buy it from us, im saying that we cairfully extend feelers as to who would be willing to buy it.

ok so its a while since this has been posted in so.

with the undermarket on its way to been restored money wont be that much of a problem, Tab is now thinking that giveing the Laycite as a gift would get us better results than selling it.

tab while talking to zeiss and kolson the other night came up with 4 options

1: give the laycite to High Queen of the kingdom of Aluvia, this will be tricky as we want it to get to her and not just some flucky, we also dont know how to get it to her and we dont know what she is like as a person.

2: we give the laycite as a gift to the Lady Lightmane, this will be somewhat easy as we know we can get hold of her and it will go a long way towards getting in her good books.

3: we give it to the Lady Aerfalle and the alliance we are part of as they will be able to use it to help us all in the long run.

now while there is a option 4 i dont think we should use it as it will only get us one item and we wont get the fullest out of the Laycite.
4: we take the Laycite to the weavers of the UM and get them to make us something.

now for option 1 and 2 we have the option of asking for stuff like land and titles which will mean that we the Group will have the start of power base.

i have to point out that if we get landed this would be separate from Snargs request for land for his tribe, but depending on the size of the land we as a group got, there may be room for Snargs tribe to settle but it would still be the Groups land.

My 2 cents, the only two of those we can trust right now are Aerfelle and Lightmane. Not necessarily against the queen, but we have no way of knowing yet that she has no involvement in the conspiracy.
