First Adventure 02, The Ravine Fortress

Whis Kor looks for any crack, keyhole, or any way to peer beyond the door where the voices are coming from.

Whis Kor whispers to the group: "Fan out and make sure you're not on the receiving end of anything that comes through the door."

Spoiler:

At Whis Kor's words, Rory attempts to hide in the dark motioning toward the others were he will be(simply whispering "I'll be over there"), with the intent of getting in a surprise attack if the situation turns hostile.

Spoiler:

"Are we going through then?"

Raver turns to look towards the front path.
"I'll be taking this route." He turns to the group, raising an eyebrow. "...Any of you will join?"

Higaide:

As the door opens inward, you hear a startled yelp and several small creatures come scampering forward, brandishing small spears. A quick glance confirms that they are Kobolds, but they do not attack you, rather they adopt a defensive posture and eye you warily.

Whis Kor immediately steps forward and blockades the doorway with his shield.

Spoiler:

*I step back, and try to appear non-threatening.*

"Great. Kobolds. Someone talk to them?"

"Don't attack!"

Rory keeps still. If they have already seen him, he shouldn't have to move.

One of the Kobolds barks at one of the ones in the back...

Undercommon:

...and a Kobold in the back of the small pack runs off down a long hallway which, now that you get a good look at it, has several doors along it leading further into the cliff and ends up turning a bend past where you can see.

"Kobolds?" Startles Raver. His eyes widened with surprise.

Hanuel steps lithely past Whis Kor and Higaide and walks slowly towards the kobolds, showing empty hands. "Hello. Can any among you speak Common?"

"What's he saying? Is he running for help?" Whis Kor barks back at the group.

"Tell them we're not here for them, we don't want a fight on our hands with them."

"Well, they know we killed the gnoll patrol earlier....one of them is running to get help now - they're going defensive. And apparently there's a "Matriarch" here too"

"I do not think they want to talk."

They were surely getting reinforcements. Zeiss had his rapier ready.

He went to hide along the walls near the door.

"Hold on, kobolds," says Kolson in Undercommon, "We mean you and your Matriarch no harm. Will you parlay?"
