On the edge of chaos
New OOC thread. It seemed appropriate.

Just a little, lol.
He's not wrong though. The country is quickly becoming unglued. Right now Aluvia continually reminds me of the end of the Han Dynasty as social order slowly breaks down and it begins to collapse under the weight of external and likely civil war. You and Rory see the writing on the wall too, right?

I've caught where this was going a while ago, ever since Al-Jalima. Things have just been sliding into entropy for so long, and so far above our heads, i just kinda shrug.
I mean, when was the last time we even got close to do something meaningful about it?

Re: On the edge of chaos
Apparently it's no longer safe here. Someone knows about us and has basically told us they're going to come down hard on the Veil. There may not be anything we can do for Sareth, but they might have gotten what they wanted from him already. We could still hire and army(hire an army as part of our terms for the Leycite?) and rescue him by brute force though, just before we skip out of town. I would probably do that whole mission as Thog, too.

Re: On the edge of chaos
I didn't mention anything about someone coming to attack the Veil.
By the way, just to make sure, I'm not being passive-aggressive here. I would like to avoid any real life drama if possible.

Re: On the edge of chaos
Kolson and me talked a little about the Primus campaign and the state our party is in. As you know, we're pretty far behind the other party and because of that, our GM has to make sure there aren't any time paradoxes. I'm sure he's good enough to avoid any problem like that, but some of us might want to speed things up a bit. If Arch is okay with it, I have a proposition for you guys.
After we're done with the current big events, why don't we use the X-com skip method? That comparison is Kolson's idea. But here's how we would do it: we give Arch some instructions as to what our characters are going to do in the near future and we press forward until a big event requires our input. We would do this until we're caught up with the other party. That's the gist of it. Now, I find it uncomfortable to present you with this idea since I feel it makes me look like "OH! Things aren't going as fast as I want them to be!". On the other hand, our projects are taking a lot of time: Kolson is trying to start an army to bring peace to the countryside, Javan is travelling across Aluvia on foot to develop his own mercenary group, Higaide and Rory want to help the a huge amount of refugees and I'm trying to steer an entire organization towards economic dominance.
So that's it. I'm happy with the current format, but I would feel more comfortable if our space time continuum was synced with the other party.

Re: On the edge of chaos
I like the idea but want to use it sparingly. The idea would be to use it in moments like right now, where we need time to pass significantly for us to be able to do what we want to do next.
For example it's going to take a significant amount of time for me to organize a force, march it to where I need to be and then to look for and negotiate with/apprehend the perpetrators. In fact, I don't even have an ETA on when that's going to be it's so long from now.
Just to be clear, I am happy with the current format, I'm just wondering if you guys are open to tweaking it occasionally. Say a week here or 5 days there.

I thought it was already a X-Com skip as of now. That's how it is for Javan at least.

Re: On the edge of chaos
*Elcor's tone: neutral and confused.*
You still are part of this campaign Rory. If you have any grievances, please share them with us. Since we're communicating through the forum, it is difficult for me to detect the tone you wrote your last post with. However, I seem to have detected a hint of passive-aggressiveness, which I find unpleasant since I don't understand where it's coming from. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Also, let me clarify: my last post in the 16th of March thread was not an attempt to limit your agency over the events of this campaign. If you perceived it that way, that's because I'm a bad writer and a lazy player who doesn't take the time to explain himself properly. For that, I am sorry. I still disagree to the plan of fleeing to Osteth, but that's because I don't mind if my character dies as a result of the coup d'État. If you have any problem with me personally, we could discuss the matter through privates messages, if you wish.
It's also possible I am the one who misunderstood what you meant with this last post. If that's the case, please disregard what I've just written.

Re: On the edge of chaos
Oh, no. I was answering Kolson, he asked me and K what we wanted.
As for your post, "what? Why?" It's so very unlike someone practiced and invested in convincing people to see and do things his way, both in-character and mechanically. What I break it down to is an explosively dismissive reaction to a non-threatening suggestion on a course of action regarding what the best plan is for us and the people we're involved with, from a close friend. Not two days ago, we were bonding over a personal decision to change clan names, and Zeiss just gave Rory the evil eye. Is Rory suddenly Bonebreaker or Oghren for making that suggestion? He made it with Zeiss' well-being in mind. In addition, Bonebreaker and Oghren just left by themselves. Rory is suggesting that they take everyone with them, and of course he's not just going to leave without offering to take Higaide, Javan, Kolson and all their people(we'd make multiple trips, of course).
I don't see any reason for Zeiss to take Rory's unspecified words at face value and respond only to the negative without asking for or demanding clarification. In any case, we can settle this out-of-character and resume without roleplaying.

Re: On the edge of chaos
Oh. Well, I'm happy that I misunderstood your words. *real life drama that never happened is over*
As for Zeiss' aggressiveness, it wasn't directed towards you but whoever is responsible for this coup d'État. He's also in a hurry to get the money in exchange of the Leycite, which is why he just left. I should have written but it was so clear in my mind, I didn't do it.
Arch, where is the emergency broadcast system?

Zeiss, is it a good idea to just send two NPCs to bring back a notoriously strong-willed and powerful individual like Radnaal? I can at least go instead, if you want.

The emergency broadcast system is controlled from a device in the Lord of Holtburg's personal office.

Oh. You can go if you want. Thanks.
As for the Lord of Holtburg's office, I'm guessing it's in the Royal District.

Well, talked to Arch on Stream and he seems to be waiting on Rory now (since Higaide is going to Janwall, which will take his remaining actions). Just a heads-up.
