- Her words were, "I won't repeat everything I said to your colleague, but I'll discuss the details of this new offer."
Mihai didn't mention any dragonfly (unless I misunderstood who you were talking about?), just an opportunity to make twice the money the Coins are paying you for this mission, and that "something" was off. I specify that this was his character's opinion.
*rolls dice* You know that except for the head of five families, no one in Lofell has any title. They have money. As an Oracle and advisor, this woman probably has a lot of influence with the merchants families who live there. Since you're already speaking in Lofellian, whenever you write "lady", it would translate into "madame" automatically.
In short, do it if you want to add a touch of exoticism to your posts. You're not penalized for not doing so.
The lady appears... entertained. She smiles like a young child who has discovered a new toy to play with.
"I didn't expect to find such an articulate person in this small town, especially from a man with such... experience."
She looks at Konrad's scar with interest.
"You are right, it would be quite a challenge to capture this specimen with brute force. On our first encounter, I easily persuaded the creature to come with me, but I doubt it will be in the mood to talk. You will have to trick it. Good thing I already told you its weakness."
Her eyes are shining with expectation.

"Knife, knife." Steve whispers loudly and motions to Fedler. When the Ranger offers hers, he takes it quickly and begins making cuttings and carefully gathering them. He has to rub beads of sweat out of his eyes several times but Steve gathers all that he can until Fedler says it's time to go.

Re: 1st adventure: the Fey one
- for zeiss only:
- Accents, vocabulary, and what makes me dangerous:
Madame Lavoie is an oracle, and that's a symbol of status that demands respect and an appropriate attitude and mode of address, at least in his eyes.
As an aside, in response to Steam chat, the idea behind Konrad's social mask is that he can change it, becoming all types to all kinds of people. In any given country he would switch to the national language unless they initiate and speak in a different language, while keeping to Imperial with his party. In private meetings(or private conversations) in a public setting such as this, he will offer to switch to a different language. Depending on the apparent social status of whomever he's speaking to, his tone and word choice becomes silky and "high" as opposed to low/vulgar. When he's out and about with the rabble he's used to, he returns to his casual tone and manner of speech, and his regular Free Feathers sailor accent. His choice in vernacular won't change unless he's pretending to be a thug, or a person who is less fluent in a given language.
This reinforces my constant pandering to everyone's disposition, and it's also what makes him dangerous. Is he the best at this? Is he the most convincing or deceiving snake? As you'll note by my ability scores, no to both.
- ooc:
- I was referring to what he said to Yen when I wasn't there to hear it, hence I said to myself, "no metagaming". And the titles question was about the form of address. "Princess" was only a reference to an in-joke from Arch's lorerun of FF9.
Konrad is enjoying the flirting, but his eye remains on the prize - loyalty and reputation with the Coins. This job offer is a secondary distraction, but a very welcome one.
"Trust me, I can be very persuasive."
In attempting to close this negotiation, his tone begins as though discussing some frivolous petty annoyance, a garment that remains in the way. "We have a deal, Madame Lavoie, but there is just one more nuisance we must address. So far, we've discussed our...exclusive mutual benefit. When I return to my comrades, what can I tell them to expect in return for their aid? It will be quite difficult for me to keep my exploits a secret while they are present to bear witness to the telltale signs."
NOT suggesting she offer/promise the same reward she is offering me to be offered to them as well. The tone is far from suggesting it, not in the slightest. I'm being very careful with this, but slipping in that innuendo at the end to keep from boring her. As for what reward is being suggested...well, gold is the standard.
Diplomacy + 6
She seems to be leaving them out, and I wouldn't want to leave them out. They're my "crew", they're going to expect something for their work. I need to deliver.

Re: 1st adventure: the Fey one
Fedler takes all the leaves that Steve helped her gather and puts them in a small bag she brought for this exact purpose. She stands up, and says with an urgent tone, "We're getting out of here." Mihai is the first to notice it; a blur of red dashing through the woods, flares of raw magic whipping the trees around it, no more than forty meters away. He takes a short at it, but a whip of magic vaporizes it. The members of the party are terrified, but they know they cannot outrun this animal, so they prepare for battle.
Steve's fire spell manages to hit the creature, which slows down for one second, before it charges again at your group. Fedler's arrow hits only a flare of magic, just like Mihai's. Just when it could jump at one of you, it abruptly stops running to stand still, seven meters away, to stare you down. It isn't growling or making any sudden movement. You can now see that its fur is smeared with blood, and it is hard to make out its original color. Grey maybe?
And out of nowhere, a small pebble hits the left side of the wolf's head, which immediately spins towards the origin of this interference. Steve and Mihai use this opportunity to attack again, to no avail since the whips of magic block the spell and the arrow without any difficulty. Then, a high-pitched voice shouts, "Hey morons! Run! I got it!"
The wolf charges towards the voice and focuses all its flares of magic in that direction, provoking a racket which is as loud as a cannon shot. The party use this opportunity to run back towards the village. Alive.
Once they're reached the edge of the forest, Fedler will ask between two inhalations, "Who was that!? I saw nobody."
Mihai will then explain that he met the Coins' client at the inn, an Oracle who, for the capture of a 15 centimetres tall creature with blue hair and dragonfly wings on its back, offered double what the Coins are paying the 113th Adjunct for their current mission. The hunter has a disbelieving look on her face, for such creatures are known only in fiction. Furthermore, it seems the thieves who stole the Oracle's journal also took this specimen with them, but it got free once they reached Waterglass. The client learned of this only recently, which is why the specimen wasn't part of the original mission.
There are a few details Mihai hasn't shared, but considering what they just encountered, it is normal he hasn't done so.
"Well," starts Fedler, "I'm sure glad I didn't go in there alone."
She still has her two hands on her knees, catching her breath.
"Fuck this."

- Got it. I'll take note of this for your future interactions with NPCs.
She gives you a comprehensive nod.
"Yes, I understand. I didn't mean to insinuate your colleagues wouldn't be rewarded, if they are to help you on this matter. The payment for this job is double what the Coins will pay you for the retrieval of my journal. I think this is more than fair, and-"
Your conversation is interrupted by the howling of an animal, originating from somewhere north. This is the direction Mihai, Steve and Fedler went. Lady Lavoie is looking out a window.
"...Your colleagues, and the hunter, they've encountered the wolf. It's closing in on them."
She glances at you.
"Maybe we should postpone this conversation for a more... convenient time."- OOC:
- Her mental link with her Aspect has started flickering slightly when the howling started.
She appears truthful.

- He's out of his chair the moment she mentions the wolf. Of course they have. I thought Steve said it would go after travelers who are completely alone! "We have a deal. Until we meet again."
He has no time or energy for the social mask anymore. That oracle becomes ever more curious with each passing second... I will have many questions for her when I return.
He takes off at a brisk pace, heading toward the bakery first to throw down all the money he has on him for a box of the famous cupcakes, or as many as are already on display if not in a box. He'll grab a box, throw down the gold and take off running.
"One dozen of your famous cupcakes, here's 10 gold, I'll pay you the rest when I return, you have my word, thank you goodbye."
He then sprints off to find the chief. "Chief, no time to plan. Wolf is on the prowl, if you want to save our comrades and save your soon-to-be-fired guard, you'll follow me, best chance. To the horses, now."- skill:

- For Konrad only:
- The Oracle nods at Konrad, and watches him leave the inn.
He does find three boxes of cupcakes on display, with six of them in each one. He grabs two, pays the baker, and runs off in the distance, after which the woman shouts at the red mage, "Hey! HEY! That's too much money! I don't even have change for that!"
Saemon, and numerous villagers, are looking at the forest with worry. An aged woman clothed in the Citadel's uniform comes out of the city hall to join the crowd. The chief of the militia listens carefully to Konrad, to who he replies, "I sent the horses to the stables; their saddles are probably off by now. It would be quicker to just run over there."

Doubled over with a pain in his side, Steve focuses on breathing and getting his heart rate down just as Mihai suggests.
Steve nods and rights himself. "He's right, let's get moving." The black mage will run the rest of the way back to Igor, being sure to stay with his party.[/color]

Mihai, Steve and Fedler have started running back towards the village when they see Konrad and Saemon also running, but towards them.
"We have the Forandor leaves!" shouts the hunter, who is still gunning for the city hall. Saemon, who now see that the party is uninjured, decides to follow her.

- The party is back together. You can either follow Fedler and Saemon, or some of you (maybe all of you?) can stop here to talk. Your decision.

With the friendliest smile on the planet, Mihai will point to the forest and say.
"New business opportunity for more money than you could ever dream of! Just keep going straight ahead, you can't miss it!"
There a certain je ne sais quoi to his tone that indicates that was probably not the best question.

Re: 1st adventure: the Fey one
Once your group arrives at the city hall, under the worried look of the villagers, Fedler immediately gives the Forandors to Velstar. The aged woman wastes no time, and selects which leaves to use for the medication. Steve has no time to catch his breath, since she immediately gives him an order, "Steve, you grind these while I prepare the water for distillation."
You can find an alchemy station set up in the corner of the room, near the stretcher on which Igor is lying. If any of you approach him, you will see a man who you guess is in his thirties, but the pale skin, the sweat covering his whole body and the infection turning his veins black make it difficult for you to confirm this. His stump is covered in bandages.
The mayor watches over the whole scene with a stone-faced expression, like if he had already seen something akin to this. Saemon cringes a little at the sight of Igor's condition, but he doesn't comment on it. Fedler has sat down on one of the benchs, and stays quiet.
Saemon turns to Konrad, and says, "Looks like they handled it," gesturing to the gathering party.

"They handled the retrieval of the herb, nothing more. In truth, I don't have much experience in dealing with cursed animals, chief. I thought that the wolf would avoid the three of them if they traveled together - I was wrong."
"However, there is a silver lining: we don't have to take our time tracking it down. The creature might be wary of large numbers, but it should chase any person right into an ambush set by people."

Mihai approaches.
"Yeah, chase it at least twice as fast as any of us can run. Either way, the bastard's not hunting; it's on a mad rampage. It'll lock on to whatever it wants to kill, and rush straight for it."
He turns to Saemon.
"How close do you have to be to counter those flares?"

Saemon answers, "I have to be at least 10 meters near it. And you three will have to make sure it doesn't attack me, or we may all bite the dust."
Steve has finished grinding the leaves, and Velstar is now mixing it to the water, which she will distill once it is ready. "Thank you Steve, I got it from here," she says with a serene tone.
Igor, whose eyes were closed until now, has now woken up and mutters with difficulty, "Kind of dying here... hurry up?" Without missing a beat, Saemon replies, "Shut your mouth Igor, and be happy these people risked their lives for you." The wounded villager can only groan in displeasure, and you cannot be sure whether is was directed towards the chief or his own pain.
You hear someone running into the room, and shouts with relief, "Fedler!" Yen passes by Irving, who voices his disapproval with a "Hey! You're not supposed to be here."
She ignores him, and hugs Fedler who is now standing up and comforting the little girl with pats on her back. "See? Told you I would be fine."

"That's alright, we'll have to take it down as quickly as possible anyway, before it starts beheading or vaporizing people. It seems to be attracted to elemental energy, so me and Fedler can cover you while Steve and Konrad fan out and cast."
He considers something, then adds.
"We should attack in bursts. Arrows first, to weaken those flares as much as possible, and create an opening for the spells to do the damage. Crazed as it is, it'll probably announce it's presence well in advance, so we should have time to prepare and unload all we've got before it can close the gap and whip us. If it does, it's up to you (Saemon) to keep us from getting slaughtered."

Wiping his forehead, Steve joins the greater conversation. "One issue we have is that none of us are armsmen. We'll need a few folks to keep the wolf busy and off of us ranged folks. The thicker the armor and shields the better. Or barring that, a way to immobilize the beast for a short time.
