May 6th

Rory scarcely finds himself wanting for spiteful words or speeches. This is one of those moments as he listens with stunned silence, contemplating the conviction of Higaide's repulsion, and the backfire of refusing to admit he had let his anger get the better of him.

"Let's just call it day. We still have Sethos. To find him, we don't need to ask the humans. Someone must have seen him or heard his name. He's a White Mage and a burun who likes to slum it with the dregs, shouldn't be too hard to find."

Javan, if you'll recall, actually was run into by the two. He followed them back to the barn and was present for all of the above.

OOC:

Javan decided to remain quiet and not get involved while Higaide and Rory worked their differences, then after noticing them calming down pointed out he was also searching for Sethos' location, and that it would be a good idea to give it priority. Hopefully Sethos would be inclined to help them with information, maybe even some help.

Higaide will go back into town and GI for Sethos. I'll avoid the part we just fled from.

Both Higaide and Rory, separately, succeed at their respective GI checks.

Javan beeps and boops his way through the barn, elbows suddenly unable to function.

Upon exchanging information we dug up between us, Rory will suggest waiting until nightfall(perhaps right now) to slink out of town on foot and visit the plantation, taking a side road or avoiding well-traveled roads altogether and going by our fake names. Not one person can even get a whiff of why we're here or what people we've made enemies of, or that we know Sethos or intend to visit him.

I just want to sneak out of town, K. When we get to the plantation, we'll knock on the front door.

Fair enough, but my Stealth still can't help you. And really, we just went INTO town and talked to a ton of folks in order to GI. If anyone was gonna make us, they would already have. That said, i suppose i can wait for nightfall, if it's not burning a lot of daylight.

It can, by scouting a path and leading us down a street or alley where there isn't anyone about. You have a point though, and we are in a barn on the outskirts of town. I guess no one would really notice if we left during the day.

Night falls. The trio has no real problems exiting the town, aside from a few suspicious glances. Neither of the moons rise in the sky tonight, making it exceptionally dark to travel, which causes more than a couple occasional stumbles on a root or rock unnoticed.

The destination in question is about a 6 hour trip at current, eventually leaving the eastern edge of the Thrush and returning to more normal terrain. It's still quite cold at night, and the ground is unpleasant to walk upon, but they make it there without further incident.

The plantation itself is, of course, quiet and dark by the time they get there. There are a few guards on patrol with lanterns, though given the oppressive night the light they cast does not reach overly far. They do not seem to have yet noticed the party before the party notices them.

Higaide steps forward into earshot of the guards.

"Hey." - he calls.

The guard shakes off a rather thick layer of dust and whirls about at the sound of the noise, weapons drawn. After a few moments he and a few others, all Humans, have gathered over by Rory and Higaide. At the mere sight of the two they've lowered their weapons, and are excitedly asking if they're here to join the others.

Javan wonders for a moment if they are not aware of his presence somehow or are just too happy to see follow humans at all.

The vision of suspicion quick turning into relief and excitement still made Javan smile tho. Hopefully they had some of that left for the fairy, and his clothing should give them a good first impr-- oh wait, they are from a different culture. Ah frell.

"More or less..." - Higaide answers - "We're here to see a friend of ours."

The guards guide Higaide and Rory further towards the plantation, talking excitedly about how much they're looking forward to joining the others, how much opportunity the mountains sound like they have, and how much they're looking forward to having a safe place to rest for the first time in months. You get the strong impression the guards don't like having to be guards, finding the concept unpleasant.

After a few minutes, one of them jolts, having just noticed Javan, so focused had they been on their fellow Humans. They immediately brandish weapons fearfully and demand to know what 'it' is and what its business is.

"Whoa there, he's with us!" - Higaide raises a arm between them and Javan, as a gesture to ward off violence - "Javan, introduce yourself, will you?"
