1st adventure: the fallout

"Well, it's just..." - he struggles to word it - "Good things didn't happen to the last person that held it."

Fedler has been silent until now, but suddenly speak up.

"She's going to the Citadel; she'll be fine, especially with Velstar as her teacher."

"Wait, you performed it for more people?"

"Well, it wasn't that." - he scratches his head, and lets out a sigh - "Look, just don't spread around that kind of knowledge in the future, alright? The cat's already out of the bag with this one, but people can die over it."

"Well you're no fun." The mage crosses his arms thinking about it. "I'll stop performing the poem for now. I promise."

Mihai shrugs. - "Fair enough."

"Uh, mostly crap we could have assumed, but i wanted confirmation." - he explains, maintaining a low voice - "The Thing is stuck with Fire, so we can set up for that Element if we mean to kill it, though Blackcliff said we should just run away if we see it again. Also, i got the feeling there are more like it, so who knows if we can depend on setting up for one Element. Good news is it won't be able to Consult on us anymore, since the Oracle is dead. Actually, Lavoie herself was dead long before we ever met her." - he pauses before he says the next part, involuntarily glancing at Fedler as he starts speaking - "He also said that as long as we keep doing our jobs, the odds of us finding it again are next to nothing, even if it said otherwise."

"Meh, this is also the man who thought we were only good for distractions. He's clearly underestimating us again. If I want someone's attention I'll get it. No matter how long it takes." Steve looks pretty determined. After a small pause he looks to Mihai with a wicked grin and asks, "Still want me to hold off on those performances?"

"It's not for our sake, Steve. It's for all the civvies who could get caught in the crossfire. Or do you want risk another four peopl..." - Mihai stops dead in his words, as something just now clicks for him. He looks at Fedler - "Velstar is going back to teaching at the Citadel?"

"Huh? Since when?" Steve looks back and forth between Mihai and Fedler, waiting to see who will answer first.

The result on the dice is of no importance since Konrad would need to roll four other dices to get a hand (they were playing poker dice).

The four of them give Konrad a disinterested look when he says his name, and they quickly go back to ignoring him. When Konrad turns back to the stairs, he sees Breeze hovering in front of him with tired eyes.

"Cupcake," she demands.

The innkeeper, who was keeping an eye on Konrad, freezes when the fantastical creature enters his field of vision. His mouth agape, he can only stand there, silent. The remaining patrons haven't noticed her.

In all appearance, Fedler was listening attentively to her comrades' discussion, but Mihai's question seems to have snapped her out of her thoughts.

"She didn't tell you?," she asks, surprised. "I assumed she did when I told you the news. You kind of... didn't react."

The hunter's eyes alternate between Steve and Mihai. She then crosses her arms, and explains.

"She's going to call in some favors, and arrange for her transfer back to the Citadel. She..." Fedler takes a moment to choose the her next words. "She said she would find a way to make Yen her student."

The young redhead scratches her nose and looks away.

Steve nods. "Good. I hope she gets it."

"Yeah, sorry. Uh, i mean, i figured, but..." - he halfway points at his head - "...multitasking." - then quickly breaks and looks at the mage - "Innocent lives, Steve." - back to Fedler, pausing slightly so he doesn't say it on the same breath - "That's good." - his tone becomes a bit softer - "That's really good." - he says, as if a weight had been partly lifted off him.

He thinks of a few more things to say, but they'd be needlessly specific, and hardly what Fedler needs to hear, so he awkwardly leaves it on that positive note.

Breeze takes the cupcake with both of her arms, and replies, "Yen is sleeping, the others are talking, and I'm eating."

She proceeds to take a large bite of her cupcake, and slowly ascends the stairs with her prize.

Steve starts laughing at how awkward Mihai just made things. "No need for that, you need to relax man. Come on, I'll buy you guys a drink before the meeting. Frankly you could both use it."
