Fifth Adventure 03.2: The Path of Darkness

The East room leads to yet another displaced location, though it is far easier to see as there are very tall sunflowers giving off golden light. These are the only sources of light in the whole area, however. There is a building nearby which several of you, Kolson especially, recognize as a standard Aluvian school for children not quite ready to begin formal education. There is the sound of whimpering, as though someone is in pain, coming from here but it sounds like it's coming from all around, not specific like before. You also see movement.

Fierneceal heads toward the movement, at this point just expecting that's where everyone will want to head and trusts they'll be behind her.

Axe raised, Rory approaches the area where he noticed movement, becoming disturbed by the crying sounds.

"What's that moving over there in/near the school?" Kolson walks towards whatever it is.

Tabran:
Your arrow goes through the wall and vanishes instantly.

"More importantly than what's the movement, is what's the crying - rather, why is it an ambient sound rather than a specific one?"

"Fierneceal, what did you do in the other room? How did we end up in the room with the doors? We may have to do it again." He tries to concentrate and scan the area, same as he did in the barn.

"Rory, we were all in the barn at once. That's what happened. I guess there's somewhere we all have to be at once here as well."

"Well, it is a school, Fierneceal and children can be cruel. As to why it's coming from everywhere I'm not sure. Perhaps if we find the boy he'll tell us."

A thorough check of the area reveals several outlines of what looks like horrific monsters, though very short in height, emerging from the bushes to the south which are slowly approaching the school. You also, as you search, spot a Blue Orb which happens to be near a blue pool as earlier.

Rather suddenly the Orb floats into the air, and the outlines of monsters start moving much faster.

Rory jumped at the appearance of the shadows. He turned and ran toward the pool, keeping his eyes fixed southward.

Fierneceal heads straight for the orb and the pool, keeping an eye out for the monsters along the way.

"humm but what is testing us and why now?"

"I think Rory and Z had the right idea. We need to stay focused; not let distractions lead us astray until necessary."

Kolson runs with the others to the pool, saying to Tab along the way, "I'm not sure, Tab. All I know is I'm not appreciating it right now."

Fierneceal kneels at the edge of the pool, placing a hand gently on top and watching the orb intently.

Z has entered the school itself and spends some time in there before rushing out rather suddenly with the same Elven boy in hand. "I think we have a problem." Z grates out, as they point towards the odd outlines which are as they speak homing in on the boy.

Fierneceal curses quietly and begins looking for some sort of way out.

Kolson draws his sword and makes ready to defend the group. "I suggest we get out of here. Now."

"We have to go in the building!" Rory shouted, darting toward the school. "Inside!"

Z needs no further impoteus and carries the boy, who is whimpering in pain, into the school and attempts to find a place to hide him.

Kolson runs after, doing his best to protect the rear.

Fierneceal rushes after everyone else toward the school, abandoning the pool and the orb for the moment, hoping for a more opportune time to create a new doorway as she prepares to defend the boy.
