Re: OOC Discussion
I'm keeping my cards close to my chest until hear about what the ending is like. But I wish there was actual exploration and combat music, not just story sting-notes.

I'm liking it. A lot.
End of "act 1" was amazing.

Re: OOC Discussion
It was been a while since I've been able to play a game without thinking, "What is this?! Atmospheric music?! Why there's no proper music?! WHY?!". In fact, I didn't notice the lack of proper music until Rory pointed it out.
So yeah, loving it up to where I am. Which is not even the end of an act 1. Because sidequests.

I know, right? Now I want to get the context. A friend of mine is going to let me borrow his copy when he's done so I'm on Cloud 9 right now. I didn't think I'd be playing this game till next year.

Re: OOC Discussion
Now, i just wrote a monster of a comment in the Episode III rumination (Arch, i will totally absolve you if you choose not to read that), so i figure i'd unwind, and do my reenactment of the characters' reaction to what i think to be the dumbest line in all of Episode 3.
So, Obi-Wan and Anakin fight their way through the droid army in space. Then they fight their way through the droid army in Grievous' ship, and finally reach the top floor of that tower thing, where the hostage, Chancellor Palpatine, sits in captivity. They approach him, and are then ambushed by Dooku, and then Palpatine, Chancellor of the Galactic Republic and secretly ultra-wise and manipulative Dark Lord of the Sith, with a silver tongue of such caliber, that it's amazing he doesn't intoxicate himself, says:
Palpatine: "Get help. You're no match for him, he's a Sith Lord!"
...
Anakin: "He's a Sith Lord!?"
Obi-Wan: "Chancellor, how did you obtain that information?"
Anakin: "He's a SITH LORD!?"
Obi-Wan: "Well, uh, i'd heard rumors, but..."
Anakin: "Why am i always the last one to know about these things!?"
Obi-Wan: "Well, you know, the lighting and all, was pretty telltale."
Anakin: "Well, clearly we're no match for him, we have to go get help!"
Obi-Wan: "Alright, Anakin, here's the plan. I hold him off, while you scurry back down the entire ship, past the droid army, back into your fighter, go back to the surface, or the nearest allied vessel that isn't currently engaged in combat and happens to be carrying someone powerful enough to be of help, make the whole way back here again, and tag me out."
Anakin: "Very well, Master." *Runs toward the exit, located behind Dooku, trying his best to strike him down in the process.*
Then the fight begins, and the rest plays out as normal. Except for the "kill him" part, as Anakin is no longer entirely convinced that the Chancellor is playing with a full deck.

You should all have a look at this: http://gameofthrones.net/
It's a fan-made game module in development for Neverwinter Nights 2. The music from the teaser amped up my excitement, but there is a system here. It's at least worth looking into and playing around with the idea of creating a character to play in the world of Westeros and Esos.

I didn't see your post about it Rory. Strange.
I must say I don't really like the Neverwinter Nights 2 engine. The crafting was also a chore. Still like the game though. Wonder how it would turn out with GoT. Lots of blood and nudity I suppose?

Re: OOC Discussion
I've just been busy guys. So here is your friendly acknowledgement of awesome.
@Rory Nov 25 That was an awesome Game Grumps episode. I can't believe someone actually tried to pass that off as a real game.
@K Nov 27 Congrats. I remember you mentioning your love of Blame! a while back so I'm happy for you.
@K Nov 28 That was an adorable video and thanks for your well wishes. It means even more that you remembered when you don't even celebrate the holiday in the first place.
@Rory Nov 28 That looks cool. Props to those guys for working on it. I can honestly say though that D&D, any version, would literally be the last ruleset I'd use for adapting that setting. I glanced at the ruleset and it's almost unrecognizable as the original 3.5 hack. That's a lot of work.
---------------------------
And we come to the end. I hope that was sufficient validation my friends. So, what did you guys think of the new Star Wars teaser? I have to admit, I'm happy with the aesthetics they are going for and I'm more than a little bit curious to see that lightsaber in action. I imagine a more hacking, less acrobatic style but who knows.
Interestingly enough this isn't the first crossguard lightsaber, at least if you count the old EU.

Re: OOC Discussion
Thanks, Kolson.
See, now THAT's an actually good design right there (and here i was thinking i'd be going too far left if i thought to try and get Omi one of those...). The secondary blade extending up and outward should come in handy for guarding and trapping (unless the blade hits the exposed hilt part between the blades, but you could maybe get a nugget of Cortosis and reinforce that spot).
The movie design, though.... it's almost worse than the Keyblade's inner hand guard. I mean really, it's one thing when you're handling an actual sword with actual steel quillons. Those will NOT burn through your arm if you happen to touch them in the heat of battle. Unless that Force User dude plans to fight with those things pointing sideways from the arms, he's putting himself at so much risk for so little payoff, it's kinda dismaying.
Does it look cool? Of course it does, and i can suspend my disbelief. And when time comes to watch the movie, i'll have long purged it out of my system, but it's still a dumb idea to put a frigging energy beam so close - and pointed at your arms in an instrument you're gonna be swinging around in battle.

Re: OOC Discussion
Yeah, I've long since given up criticizing Star Wars for silliness like that. I'm just going to go with it and hope it looks cooler in action rather than in the prelude to action. Who knows, they may surprise us with a truly unique and interesting fighting style.
If you are interested in a crossguard lightsaber for Ominae just know that it's an extremely rare variant of lightsaber but that there is no reason Omi wouldn't have seen it at least demonstrated at the Temple. I won't drop you one but there is no reason you couldn't build it at level 7+. You'd just need a lighsaber crystal, the normal parts included in the cost of creation, plus some Phrik or Cortosis for the catch (ie quest item).
Crossguard Lightsaber Benefit: When using the crossguard lightsaber with the Block talent, each successive Use the Force check made to block an incoming attack incurs only a cumulative -2 penalty, instead of the normal -5 penalty. However, a crossguard lightsaber can be difficult to master against ranged opponents, and as such the wielder takes a -2 penalty on all Use the Force checks made to use the Deflect talent.
If you do decide to build one I recommend using it for duels and keeping a more general use blade for normal combat.

The only problem I have with the crossguard in the teaser is that the lightsaber parts are not long enough. Otherwise, it was a teaser. Looks cool, but I'll reserve judgment.

Yeah, I think we could rig a switch for that. It will cost more and you'll need a consult from someone a bit more mechanically inclined (basically a few feats that probably aren't worth taking for Omi). Hell, the starship mechanic Hotwa Prela could help you with it if you become her friend. She might even do it for cost.

SO. I remember seeing this on a forum and just loving the hell out of it. Dreamland + video response. Just insanity. Good for a quick humor and then forgetting it. Thankfully it was just hosted by a user comment as video reply material in a "post whatever" thread, there was no heated argument going on.
JonTron Monthly
And since I'm the resident member who hawks all things related to a specific thing I like, more JonTron! Two new videos, one in which he plays Smite and is showing his reactions for hilarity's sake. The second and newer video is a review/panning of plug 'n' play consoles. From this point on, I'm going to refrain from embedding the videos to shove them down your throat. You're all used to his style by now, so it's not required that I post a link to show you, and the only reason I embedded in the first place was to hurdle over that in-joke about my links being Eraserhead monstrosities.
Speaking of short funny uploads, here's one that's under 20 seconds long and one of my favorites: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G9gJjv2T4E0
