Re: Transition Stuff
Vahrran's "inborn" gut feeling kicks in. Outwardly visible to everyone else, he pans his gaze across the throne room, easily dismissible as typical Chiss behavior.
- Use Force:
- Detect "Life", similar to how K and I tried and failed when we were in the sewers(we saw life "everywhere", down to the microbes). If I sense a "lack" of life in anyone(telltale sign of a mimicry of life, aka droid), please let me know.

- Heh, natural 20. Enjoy your reward.
Vahrran has always had a well developed instinct for this kind of thing. Take in the scene, process the facts and voilĂ ! he finds an obscure clue or comes to a helpful or unexpected conclusion. But this time is different.
The room looms large in his vision, seemingly growing wider and taller than it has any right to be. Slowly at first, but quickly gaining speed, the color sluices away from everything, the sound as a rushing river to his ears. The sound is a jumble of the spoken and unspoken thoughts of those around them.
"I'm hungry."
"Was Aro ever real?"
"What is wrong with Korra?"
And just as Vahrran thinks he will be overwhelmed by the noise, it somehow recedes into a muffled whisper. For the first time, Vahrran is able to look around. The world exists now only in gray scale and the people who inhabit it manifest as hurricanes of light motes.
The security droids barely register, only the energy from their power cores passing through their bodies giving the barest hint that they exist and even that lacks the dynamic whorls and swirls of a living being.
The various aids and living security burn steady and strong, but not particularly brightly.
The First Speaker's Councilers burn brighter still, a cut above the average being.
Next comes Dake and Jim, larger and brighter than those before. So bright are they that they boost the energy of those around them, Jim to Korra, Dake to Ominae.
Next is Ominae and Korra, the strength of their Force Sensitivity giving them a larger than life feeling. Ominae burns brighter than her, though you do not know why. They too cause those around them to burn brighter than they would on their own.
The First Speaker burns brightest of all. He is smaller than any in your group, but instead of a few lending their strength he has the weight of Caamas itself behind him. So many things pass through him and on to those around him that if he were to be removed, the whole thing would crash down like a house of cards. The planet would not survive such an occurrence.
Finally, Vahrran looks at his own hands and body, but instead of his normal limbs he sees a powerful swirl of light, not unlike Korra and Ominae. He instinctively knows that his is weaker than theirs but that his own potential is no less.
What this means: Vahrran does not sense any more hidden droids but, more importantly, he has just taken his first step into the wide world of the Force and has been left changed by that knowledge. He doesn't know what just happened or even that it might have been experienced by any others. In fact, fear and denial would not be an unheard of reaction to something like this. But however you want to play it, this is now a thing that Vahrran knows about and that it can happen to him, so please describe his reaction to it including his feelings. This is very important.
In the mean time, you have taken a significant step towards fulfilling his Destiny. For the next 24 hours he gains a +1 Force bonus to all defenses. Please note that on your character sheet.
Dake wrote:"...Hey."
He noticed that she was looking in the direction of the Temple.
"You worried about something?"
Korra shivers before turning her head to you. "Yes. No. I don't know. I'm happy that we were able to expose Aro but I'm not sure what he was trying to accomplish. His actions since the confrontation in the hall just don't make any sense. I mean, all he had to do was walk away. It's not like we could have immediately stopped him. So what was his goal?"

Re: Transition Stuff
Ominae steps in. "Being a droid, he'd have known we were on to him the minute i sprung that lie about the transmitter. But i think you're right, there's more to it than that. Being that he had to already have all the information he could need about this place, there are only two things i can think he could've accomplished by coming here afterwards. One was to kill the Prime Speaker. The other, and what scares me the most, is that he was just stalling us. It's pretty apparent to me now that the Empire's been counting on us to find this Artifact for them before we even entered hyperspace, but we can't have been their only means of detection. And the Dark Side aura i've been feeling is getting worse, and if i can feel it, so can every other trained Force-Sensitive on this planet. Either way, the Force is telling me we need to be there (points in the direction Korra's been looking at, rather deliberately too) right now. If i could be in two places at once today, i would, but until i master that skill, we need to make a choice, and we need to make it now.

"Manner of speaking, i don't know what it is. Don't get any ideas about turning up an easy profit, Dake, and don't take this lightly. The dark aura i'm sensing is so strong, it's starting to give me a migraine. And i think it's only gonna get stronger.
In any case, don't spread it around."

Re: Transition Stuff
When Vahrran looks at his hands, he leans back from them, eyes wide, as if in reaction to something strange. If someone were to look his way, they might notice something uncharacteristically..."emotional" about his expression.
After lowering his arms, Vahrran then focuses on one individual ahead of him and begins to squint a little, as if trying to see better.
- Kolson:
- INC: When he notices that the light of his hands and body move with and in him as he leans away from it, Vahrran regains some mental composure--surely he is not burning, or suddenly insane, is he? Of course not.
OOC: I rolled a will save DC of 20, and Vahrran is not frightened. Although he is confused and surprised, and unable to physically repress characterstics of the emotions he's feeling, he still has a rational mind, and he will attempt to use this to his advantage, to "see what he can see" elsewhere(don't worry, he won't be sprinting all over the palace). We'll get to that in another post. The way Vahrran acts in this post is merely for flavor and possibly for someone in the room to notice me staring at someone.
INC: Vahrran tries to strain his extrasensory perception to stay "on" while he tries to "make" color visible again, a quick little experiment before he does what he really has in mind. If it feels like his new vision will go away when he tries, he'll refrain in the interest of keeping it "on".

- Ooh, and it's a welcome bonus that you included a slice of telepathy. The few lines you felt like giving me will be useful in his doubting and fearing what he doesn't yet realize is the Force, and for weighing whether what future "voices" say are relevant or even helpful.

"Well, then what should we do now? Do we go for the artifact or stay here and investigate?" asks Korra.

We should get crackin' on that instead of all this other talk. I reckon they have perfectly good law folk here about for that. Well, that's just my two credits anyway."

"Consider it an investment. Either way, aren't you already getting paid in artwork or something?"
To Korra:
"For what it's worth, what the Force told me was that we'd have answers once we got to the temple. That may not be much for all of you, but Jim said it himself: they have their own people on the case here. Not that i don't want to know what's up with the Droid, but i feel like the situation at the temple getting more urgent. And there, they don't have anyone; it's on us.
We should request that data on the blockade that Aro was so dodgy about - Â maybe ask them to upload it to our ship's computer, to save time, and be on our way as soon as possible."
To Dake again:
"Might not be a bad idea to ask them to get a tech team to do a sweep of the ship, while we're at it. It may well be crawling with tracking devices right about now, knowing what we now know. Some security posted there might be in order too, just in case. I think we've earned that much."

Dake twitches at the mention of "our ship". And in respond to Ominae, he says :
"Why would we need to do that? Glitch and the rest of my droids are already guarding my ship. They'll know if someone tried to put tracking devices on it. In any case, if we are going to that temple, we should go now instead of talking. I think Vahrran is getting bored."
He took a look at Vahrran who seemed to be in deep thoughts.

Re: Transition Stuff
Last time we left the heroes they were inching their way down a dilapidated, poorly lit hallway in the abandoned Jedi Temple on Caamas trying to find a source of great fear that Ominae sensed from that direction. The sounds of severely out of place children's laughter echo all around them. It seems to be coming from the room ahead.
You guys come upon two doors, not unlike the two previous. The straight one is stuck closed. It currently doesn't have any power so manual opening is impossible. The one to your left is partially open and is the source of the laughter.
Twelve ghostly Jedi younglings* are at play in what looks like a ghostly classroom. Their hover chairs have been pushed against the wall and the troupe is practicing levitating balls into each other. They are about the size and weight of a soccer ball (football if you prefer :p). The younglings all look about seven or eight and range in species. Three in particular stand out.
The rest are indistinct and out of focus shadows, there and interacting but having no real part in the proceedings.
Question: Will you guys continue to listen to their conversation or do you want to try anything?
*A youngling is a species neutral way of referring to Jedi initiates. They varied in age from 5 to 12 and were taught the basics of the Force and the Jedi Way by a wide range of teachers within the Order, including the members of the Jedi Order's governing body the Jedi Council.

- A small Caamasi boy, lithe and fast. He is dodging the balls without returning them to the others, instead pushing them off into the wall. The other kids are starting to complain but he answers mater-of-factly that "If I don't return them, then you can't throw them at me anymore."
- One of the protesters is a lanky, green-skinned Mirialan girl with long black hair tied into a double-braid. "Come on Ylenic, that's not fair. You are supposed to throw them back!"
- A human boy wearing the green robes of a Corellian Jedi initiate sits apart from the others. He is taller than the rest and has long dark hair and broad shoulders. His face is currently screwed up in concentration as he struggles mightily to lift the ball with his mind. He isn't having much luck.

The power of the Darkside makes it difficult for you but you manage to push through. You do detect their surface emotions but you don't learn anything you didn't by listening to them speak.
The Corellian boy and the Mirialan girl both exude frustration, though for different reasons, while Ylenic the Caamasi boy feels clever for coming up with that ball plan of his.

- Yes, two things.
I want to observe the kids, especially the girl, as to whether their appearance in any way resembles a miniature version of the cloaked crazy lady that tried to bliss us to death a few minutes ago. I'm not expecting much from Kinetic Communication in terms of body language, but i'll check on that front too, to be sure.
Secondly - and this is dumb but i'll do it anyway, i want to approach and say hi.
*Ominae approaches the trio of recognizable kids.
"Uh, hi."

- You can always try K. Doesn't mean you will succeed.
UTF Check Result = Success. You did this time though.
Kinetic Communication Result = Inconclusive. You suspect the age gap is too much, which does give you a general idea that the person who put the mind-whammy on you is 25 or older, assuming a human or near-human origin.
Being the smallest of the group, Ominae easily squeezes through the half-open door. As he walks closer to the apparitions, the rest of you notice that he takes on more and more of the same ghostly quality as the kids. In fact, as he gets closer to them he starts shrinking, not unlike a person walking down a long hall and getting progressively further and further away.
To Ominae however, the kids gradually come more and more into focus until...
- K:
- K, you are now under the effect of a powerful compulsion. For all intents and purposes, Ominae is now Jedi Master Yoda and appears as such to those watching as well.
Your mission is to bring the Younglings to order so that you can teach them the basics of meditation. If you roleplay this well, I will reward you with a Force Point. If you do exceptionally well, I may give you a Destiny Point.
To help you with this, I'll now give you small biographies for the three primary apparitions.
Nejaa Halcyon- The Correllian boy struggling to move the ball at all has no aptitude for kinetic use of the Force. That said, he makes up for it with the powerful ability to read and effect other being's emotions. You have also noticed that his unique detriment has done nothing to lessen his esteem in the eyes of his peers and indeed the group looks to him for leadership.
Unfortunately, the boy does not seem to notice any of these positive qualities. He is still hung up on his inability to use telekinesis. If you can help him overcome this wrong-thinking you suspect that he will be chosen as a padawan earlier than the rest.
Ria Adonwe- The Mirialan girl is the most assertive of the group, always quick to point out the injustice around her and to challenge it. Pair that with her nimble and inquisitive mind and she has all the makings of a great investigator.
Unfortunately, these qualities tend to set her apart from some of the other children, who find her bossy or overbearing. Determined to change that you have offered her all of the advice and support you could. Luckily it seems to be paying off, for now she is friends with 2 kids: Nejaa and Ylenic.
If you can keep her on her current path, you believe she will make a fine Jedi someday.
Ylenic It'kla- The Caamasi boy is a clever one with a natural inclination towards diplomacy. Not surprising given his people's temperament. He easily makes friends, and is one of the more popular Younglings in the Temple here on Coruscant.
Unfortunately, he shrinks away from combat, not afraid that he will be hurt, but afraid of the pain he will cause others regardless of the greater hurt he may stop. But you sense an iron in him, a certain toughness that is uncommon to his people.
You suspect that when the chips are down, he will not hesitate to protect others. He just needs the right push. You have meditated extensively on the issue and you sense that his friendship with Nejaa and Ria holds the key.
Note- I know this is out of left field but I want to see what you can do. I'm also telling you this stuff so that when you pop out of the compulsion you will have some idea of who these kids are and at least some idea of what is going on.
If you have any questions just ask.
...Ominae disappears completely to be replaced by 3-foot-tall green alien of exceedingly old age. Wearing his little Jedi robe he limps along with the aid of a well used cane and speaks in a peculiar dialect of Basic as he calls the Younglings to order.
