Fourth Adventure 02: The Spacial Temple

As you travel further 'in' to the Spacial Temple... a hard thing to determine given its nature... you realize there are Order officials in green robes guiding people towards the direction of the Vein. As you get closer it becomes more obvious; what looks like a large, violet star glowing and burning brightly, about 30' in diameter. The light is not painful, nor is there heat, and people are guided to enter it one by one, only to emerge mere seconds later on the other side. Some have looks of discouragement, others amazement. Few are talkative though, mostly in stunned silence.
The group takes its own place in line, preparing to enter the violet star.

"(No way it could just be a door.)"

*After several more minutes the helpful members of the Order are forced to leave the frightened Olthoi on the teleport pad and allow pilgrims to board and be telported back down. She goes through the same process and is teleported back down.*

Zeiss finally arrived at the place where the trial would take place. He waited in line. And when it was his turn, he entered the strange light.

*Kezrin wanders around the lower section of the temple, quickly becoming bored. She wanders around the area speaking to members of the Order who don't appear overly busy. After speaking with them she discovered that a good portion of the temple was not in use due to its... dangerous manner. After some cajoling she managed to convince them that she would be perfectly okay in said "dangerous" environment. They wouldn't let her inside without an armed escort though."

Escort:
"This way m'am."

*Her escort was a fairly young orc, probably still in his teens if his awkward all knees and elbows appearance is anything to go by.*

Is this place truly dangerous? They have given a child as my "guard."

*She follows the young orc up to a heavy metal-ish looking door of a dull green color. The orc fiddles with several lock mechanisms and signs on an iron slate and motions for Kezrin to do the same. She does and after entering the doorway she hears the door lock with a resounding thud and the unmistakable sound of the locks being closed. Taking a moment to look around herself she is quite puzzled by the environment she finds herself in. Its a small green antechamber, and upon closer inspection the walls are made of the same queer metal like substance the doors and the outer walls were made of. She has never seen a material like this, nor heard of anything even remotely like it. Upon querying her "guard," she discovers that no one in the order has any idea what material the tower is made of, nor indeed who made it. It is believed that it has existed as long as the temple itself. The guard advises Kezrin to remove any and all loose garments and leave them here. He assures her that they are perfectly safe, only members of the Order are allowed in here and even they only come in on rare occasions. Kezrin quickly complies leaving her belongings in a small heap on the floor.*

*Ducking through a small doorway on the opposite side of the room, Kezrin stops dumbfounded by what she sees on the other side. This elists a hearty laugh from the young orc.*

"Not what you were expectin', huh? Don't worry even those of us who see it on a regular basis are still awed by it, and this isn't the half of what can be found in these halls."

*Kezrin clears her throat.*

"Ahem... Uh yes... and I can see why you wouldn't allow just anyone in here too."

*The walls are... moving. In fact its hard to tell if they could be called walls at all. Pieces of them move like wagon wheels with strange evenly spaced spikes on the outer wheel and other such... wheels of the same appearance interlock with them spinning in opposite directions. In some places there are long cylinders being pushed to and fro by the turning of the wheels. The entire space is filled with the sound of metal scraping on metal. In fact Kezrin realizes that there is no way the young orc could have heard her over this noise. She repeats what she said, yelling it to him this time.*

"I can see why this place is off limits to outsiders."

*The young orc turns back and nods, handing Kezrin what appears to be a pair of earmuffs. Putting them on Kezrin is delighted to discover that the sound is muffled and she can now clearly hear the Orc.*

"We aren't certain when the tower came to be, nor what these strange mechanisms are for, but they move like this without ceasing and have done so for as long as we have been keeping track of them. This next area gets a bit tricky so make sure to move how and when I tell you."

*The duo pauses for a second and waits. To Kezrin's suprise a large square shaped box of metal drops from the cealing and smashes into the ground a few feet in front of the orc. As Kezrin watches she can hear the muffled clink-chic clink-chic of the chain being drawn upwards pulling the metal plate up with it. The orc waits and she can hear him counting softly*

"Three... Two... One... JUMP!"

*The orc dashes a few feet ahead right the plate falls once more. After a few moments he calls back to Kez*

"On the count of three, here we go. Three... Two... One... JUMP!"

*Kezrin dashes ahead barely avoiding being squashed by the plate. The journey continues on in much the same fashion for sometime. The duo moving to avoid obstacle after obstacle of one nature or another. Finally the hall ends and Kezrin and her young companion move into a large anti-chamber much like the one they were in before, but five times the size. The orc removes his muffs and motions for Kezrin to do the same. She can still hear the thrumming of the mechanisms, but its much quieter now.*

"We call this the Great Room. There are several such rooms throughout the tower. We use some for storage and others are set up to work as office space. We have even used them as temporary housing, though obviously only for the more experienced members. And unfortunately this is the end of our little tour. I'm not authorized to take civilians any further in. Its simply too dangerous."

*Kezrin turns to the small orc boy and thanks him the two rest and eat a small meal before returning. By the time Kerin returns several hours have passed, and she sits down to await the other members of the group's return.*
