time: after mission 2 on way back to Al-Erat

"ok i got a story for you guy's (said in response to someone else finishing there story)

so back home after i set up my inn i got chummy with the city guards captain i also was friends with a local thief, thou i if she heard me call her just a thief she'd kill me but anyway one night Malcolm was getting quite drunk at my inn, oh Mal is the captain by the way, so he was drunk and was playing a game of cards with Dureena my ""thief"" *Tab actually dose air quotes* friend and started ranting at her about how she was just a common thief and a low down dirty liar, he was losing to her quite badly *Tab laughs* it was quite widely known that Dureena was a thief but no one had ever been able to proof it, but as i was saying something the Mal said must have hit a sore point with Dee because suddenly stands up, now the look of rage on her face was enoth to stop an army of charging tumeroks i was just getting ready to jump the bar to stop her from beating Mal to death with his own spine when she turns and leaves the inn without a word leaving Mal sitting there looking kind of sheepish.

now this bit i didn't see myself but both side told me the same story at different times.

so the next day Mal had just gotten back from one of his rounds of the city and just as he sat down in his chair he hears a knock at the door looks up and Dee was standing there.
Mal - can i help you dear (said in a condescending tone.)
Dee - responds so you really think im nothing but a petty thief even thou there has never been any proof?
Mal - Dureena no i don't if you were a thief i would have proof and you would have a nice home in one of my cells.
Dee - proof you say?
Mal - Yes! now my dear if you wouldn't mind i have work to do.
Dee - well you see i came here because when you were out patrolling the market you must have dropped some stuff and not nosiest?

Dee then walked up to his desk and proceeded to place a wallet, an insignia of the city watch, a pocket watch and belt then stepped away from the desk with a smile on her face.

Mal was stunned "how?...when? ok i would be very interested to know how i managed to ""drop"" my belt?"

now both of them wouldn't tell me what happened after he said that but i get the feeling that they made up and that Dee may have told him something about herself.

Rory furrowed his brow, clearly offended by the outcome of the events of the story. "So, the captain of your hometown is in bed with a thief, who may or may not have murdered someone by ripping out their spine. Remind me, is this supposed to be a good story or a bad one?"

"Depends on what she looked like, i guess. Either way, that standoff screamed of tension from the get-go, so i say good for them. Pretty sure there was no spine-murder, though."

"As for Dee and Mal it's a professional relationship he has been trying to get somthing on her for years but she always comes up clean, she has even helped him once or twice"

Ashakel looked to Tabran for a moment. "Perhaps it is, but I don't like it. I have no desire to let it control me."

Then, turning back to Hanuel, he said: "Trade a story for a story, perhaps, eh?"

"Sure, though mine's not that exciting.

I was standing in a field near Arwic, utterly alone. Dara was gone, and I couldn't even feel them, so I started walking, trying to find them. After a little walking I suddenly heard two noises, one sounded like Dara, and the other was a little boy crying. I knew Dara wouldn't like it if I just abandoned the boy, so I went to find out why he was crying.

He was a budding Green Mage, like me, who had been able to summon his aspect from a very young age. But since he was still so young, and had yet to visit a temple, his aspect had been gravely injured fighting off an animal, and it was dying." Hanuel's voice cracks slightly, still feeling the sorrow of the moment.

"I-I told him about Dara, and gave him the Ruby I had on me, explaining the elemental significance of the stone, before telling him to focus on it, and that I would help heal his aspect. It was then-" Hanuel cuts off suddenly, holding back a choking sob, and taking a moment before continuing.

"I realized that the only way I could heal the aspect would be to completely cut myself off from aspects. I-I couldn't let such a young boy watch his aspect die in front of him like that. I-I know those bonds. I-I had to make a choice, and I knew, even without my abilities, that I'd still be connected to Dara in some way, s-so I gave up my connection to restore his summon." Hanuel chokes back another sob, trembling in fear and sorrow, covering their face with their arm to hide the tears spilling down their cheeks.

Ashakel carefully listened to the fairy's story.
"That was a damn brave thing to do, even with the fact that I cannot grasp the bond between Aspect and Mage. But you see... It also required you to sacrifice a part of yourself, like with my own. So.. I think I understand you. Twas the right thing to do, and you know it deep inside" The troll then tapped Hanuel on the shoulder. "You might be small, but you have a heart the size of a Golem, heh!"

"'least ya gettin' a nice-like trial," Snarg groans, rolling over on his side, "others ain't be gettin' ya luck."

Zeiss listened Hanuel's story and his sobbing. He finished writing in his journal and started eating his ration. He seemed unsure what else to do in this situation.

Hanuel shoots a glare at Snarg, eyes starting to go red from crying, before looking away. "Th-thanks Ash." Hanuel doesn't look up, but their shaking has lessened slightly.

Snarg groans and sighs, "Look, I ain't sayin' ya ain't be havin' it bad. Just sayin' ya need to be preppin'. If ya gettin' broken down o'er somethin' a Temple's givin' ya, what ya gonna do if ya bein' faced wit' somethin' worse?"

Hanuel takes a deep breath. "N-no, I shouldn't have taken that so personally. It's just still so vivid. I've never felt so isolated and alone before. I've always had Dara with me. I never thought I'd have to face losing them." At the mention of that though, Hanuel's shaking starts again, fear still plain in their body language.

Noticing Hanuel's shaking, the troll puts a couple more sticks in the fire.

"But you can look at Dara now and see it's still there.

*Kezrin stops singing softly, having put the finishing touches on her latest concoction. She hands you a steaming bowl, a sharp spicy sent wafts up on the steam. Its a thick mixture with chunks of browned meat, red beans, tomatoes, onions, and a long thin starch type substance. With the bowl she also hands you a plate with two thick slabs of cheese and a hand or paw full of crackers.*

"I call it Chili." She states to the group at large, and then somewhat bashfully, "Its my first attempt at replicating it, I didn't have the recipe soo... it may not be very good... but I hope you like it"

*after a few minutes she pipes up again.*

"What do you think... if I may ask..."

Tab sinffs the bowl and can tell he wont like it he has never be a fan of chili peppers but eats it anyway

"its nice Miss Kez but a bit to heavy on the chili pepper for my taste, one of the down sides to having a fox's seance of smell and taste."

Rory dug into it as soon as the heat decreased to an acceptable level, and was half done by the time Kez asked what everyone thought of it.

"Got any more?" he asked.

Snarg shoves the food in to his mouth in several paw-sized chunks, giving an affirmative gesture to Kez as he chews.

"Sorry. I already ate."

Zeiss nods to show he appreciates the act.

Hanuel didn't feel much like eating, so they declined the food, shifting closer to the fire.

*Eats.*
