Fifth Adventure 04: The Choice

Zeiss:
You find no traps, but a single, strange 8-sided crystal that glitters violet and steel that you are reasonably certain was not there before.

Tabran:
You spend some time looking around but cannot spot any settlements nearby. However you are reasonably certain Z's assertion about the coast is correct.

*Z stops mid stride and angrily turns back to Kolson.*

"I'm headed to something familiar to get my barrings what's so mysterious about that. There is nothing around her that I can spot besides the sea. No roads, no fences, no houses, nothing. You want to sit out here by this cave and do nothing go ahead. Personally, I'd like to find out where I am so I can get this kid to somewhere safe. People in these parts don't take kindly to desolates, you should know that, and I can't do anything for him here."

*Z stalks off again toward the East*

Zeiss takes the strange crystal and decides to open the lock to his fridge. He responds to Rory.

"Tabran said we might have passed three weeks in the catacombs."

Kolson yells back, "Walking off without your comrades isn't a plan either, you self-righteous ass! Get back here and we'll make some plans! Figure out what we want to do!"

"What...? No way. What would give him that idea? I'm sure the night passed more quickly than we thought, and into the day as well."

Zeiss:
The instant you touch the crystal, you realize you need to take it to the group, right now. You are thoroughly convinced this is the correct path to do and immediately forget about the wagon and your goods.

*Z does not seem to show any indication that they were listening to you, but stops well within yelling distance at the top of another hill, and looks around again toward the coast.*

"Bah!" Kolson wanders around the hill to see what the rest of the guys are up to.

Zeiss takes the crystal. He sees Rory and take him by the arm, forcing him to follow him back to the group.

"I found that. We should take it to the others."

"Wha--hey, okay, you don't have to twist my arm," Rory yields in annoyance, following Zeiss. "Why, do you know what it is?"

Tab coming down from the top of the hill hears Zeiss shouting something and heads over to him

"whats this you say you found?"

Kolson walks up as Tab is shouting down the hill. "What's all the shouting about?"

"I know that I really want to show that thing to the others. Which is not normal since I wanted to examine it by myself first. To estimate its value. Now just follow me. You are being annoying."

He joins the others.

"Where is Z and Snarg? They need to be here. Everyone need to."

"What? Why?"

"Yeah, well I wish I had a silver for every time you annoyed me," Rory huffed.

"Because everyone need to see it Kolson. All of us. Just go get them."

Zeiss examines the crystal. He doesn't even wait for Kolson and tries to reach the others, still holding Rory's arm.

Rory attemps to break Zeiss' grip on him.

"Relax, I'm stayin' here. I said let go," he said, finally wrenching himself free.

"Um. Why are you being evasive and manhandling Rory?"

Zeiss looks at Rory.

"Come on, you are slowing me down."

He continues his search.

tab shouts

"Z, Snarg Can you guys wait up a sec?"

*Z feels Andrei tugging on her cowl. She looks down.*

"Yes?"

*he responds*

"umm... I think ... I think that guy who gave me chocolate and the fox man are looking for you..."

*Snarg looks back and yips in agreement, bounding back the way they had come.*

*Z sighs and takes off at a jog back the way they had come as well.*

It takes far too long but eventually Zeiss manages to gather all the group together. He holds out the crystal, which slowly hovers into the air and transforms into a see-through projection of a tall man wearing a long, featureless robe. You cannot see the color as the projection is colorless, but there is no face in the cowl, no hands in the sleeves, no substance in the cracks in the front.

"Okay... that's magic I guess."

Kolson is surprised by the projection but recovers quickly. He hides the lycele behind his back. "Um, who are you?"
