Fifth Adventure 04: The Choice

"Ain't seemin' to be workin' too well," Snarg motions at the boy, "got the best on it and he ain't bein' able to be findin' a way to be doin' that right. Seems to be workin' some if he's seein' as water, but I ain't seein' 'em lookin' too good otherwise."

"We do not embrace the chaos of evil. We embrace discord. The world is safer, cleaner, purer without the artificial chains of slow death. Greed, decay, disregard, antipathy. This is what organization has brought you. It was not always this way, and we will return it to the way it was." There is a very significant pause before it turns to move away and says, in the same empty tone, "I will convey your message."

*Same empty tone.*

"Anathema."

"Han i want this force field down and the only way i can think of to break the connection between the boy and it is that Key"

"Well, you have our decision," Rory replied to the Nightmare in a more civil air. "But, that's it? You'll leave us to figure out how to save him? What if he dies despite our attempt? We need to know what you did."

Zeiss looks at the nightmare leaving.

"Great... I imagine it will try to bring down the governments."

He looks at the boy.

"Can we move him?"

The Nightmare gives no further reply as it leaves through the exit.

"I KNOW!" Hanuel nearly yells, stress and frustration more than evident in their voice and body. "Just... Just let me try and figure this out."

"I don't think we should touch him at all. Remember what happened to Gwydo when he touched the Abomination?"

Snarg drops his sword from the ready position as he watches the Nightmare move out of sight. He races over to the boy and begins looking him over furiously. "Help me get 'em goin'!" he shouts.

To Han and Tab, "Calm down guys. What have you learned?"

Zeiss approach Hanuel and Tabran.

"As Kolson said, what would happen if the Key touched the boy? I wasn't listening to you."

"BOOM."

tab takes a deep breath

"i dont rightly know what will happen when the key touchs the boy but im thinking that it will break the bond between him and the wall"

"The boy, I suspect, is a desolate. I touched his mind, and it was full of pain. Of being mocked because his parents were killed for harbouring a "monster like him". The water affinity he seems to have now isn't natural. It's being forced into him somehow, like the woman in the cave."

Snarg stands up and turns to Tabran. "That ain't gonna be bad for 'em...?" he asks quizzically.

"So what then?" Rory asked, having began to attention after Zeiss asked his question. "Should we stand on one side of the room and throw the key at him?"

"It's going to be very bad Snarg. From what I can tell, it would cause an explosion of elemental energy, and there's no telling how deadly it could be..."

"im thinking that with the key reflecting the elements it bay remove the enforced elemental affinity that has been forced on the boy?"

"So... we don't use the Key. Simple. Nobody here wants to die."

Snarg's eyes widen. "Oh! Ohoho, don't be doin' that!" he says in a panicked fashion, moving in front of Tabran and the boy.

Kolson removes his hat and runs his fingers through his hair. A nervous tick probably. "How is any of this even possible and where is the energy coming from?"

"..." Hanuel dropped into thought, pulling out the mirror key and looking into it deeply.

"then Zeiss we are stuck in this room with only 4 days of food unless you want to kill the boy and fight an abom?"
