"Oh, that's, uh... looks like they're headin' to Zaikhal, Colier, or Fort Tethanya ... or maybe Water Temple. Looks like they ain't want to be found, and ya know what they say: if it ain't want to be found, you ain't want ta find it. I ain't know much 'bout airships. Maybe they come from Aluvia, Sho ... I dunno."

- While it is far too dark and the ships are moving too fast for you to make out specifics of make or flag, you can tell a few things. For one, they are definitely Frigate-sized airships, which means warships. And two, they are running silent; even listening carefully you cannot hear them from here, and they have no visible lights on whatsoever. It also occurs to you that doing so is incredibly dangerous for airships moving in formation, as it would be quite easy for them to blunder into one another without careful coordination.

"These are warships... and they are in a dangerous formation. They are trying to sneak past potential scouts. Just... don't try to attract their attention."
It would be better not to attract their attention.

"Well, wherever they are going they have nothing to do with us. Let's get moving and see if we can rent some rooms for the night before the inns close."
Kolson didn't care for roughing it, but would never admit it in front of the others.

Re: Second Adventure 01: Through The Desert
It occurs to you all that while you might be able to Scan or otherwise examine the airships further, such would be an immensely bad idea. You hurry forwards, making the rest of the trip into town without incident. There is a solitary inn, the Upstream Beauty, still open with a few candles in the windows. It strikes you temporarily as odd that they wouldn't use Magicite lights or lanterns, but after a glance inside it quickly becomes apparent why; this is a very basic inn, clearly not used to regular transit and travel. The innkeeper, a very calm and sedate looking Banderling, is lounging in one of the chairs behind the smallest bar you've ever seen, reading a book with the title "Estuans Interius" upon it. He looks up over his glasses and gives a friendly wave, and the group of you quickly arrange for a good night's rest with little effort or coin.
The food in this inn is much more threadbare than you are used to, mostly nuts and dried berries with the occasional stick of dried meat, and the innkeeper explains, somewhat apologetically, that getting ahold of real food and drink with the river issue going on has been almost impossible. In fact he can only offer each of you one cup of water, as his own stores are running quite low.
As he's setting up tables for you to eat, he mentions in passing that the problem should be apparent soon if you care to go glance at the river now before heading to bed.

Snarg shoves the food and water in his mouth at the same time and bolts out the door, cheeks bulging. "Ahmahm ogignawf taff shehh thah hirivier!" he eloquently explains.

It seemed like water was becoming really scarce in this town. He only had one cup of water. And he was paying. It intrigued Zeiss and after he was finished with his meal, he went outside to see. Discreetly. Not like that Gnoll.
- Spoiler:
- Awareness, find traps, stealth and knowledge engineering (what could cause this) when checking the river. And when going back to the inn, do a gather information general and a specific one about the river. Knowledge politics on everything I learn. Thanks for the rolls.

Face palming at Snarg's manners, Kolson says, "Please excuse our friend. His curiosity is greater than his manners."
Raising up from the bench and the finished threadbare meal, Kolson tips his hat to the inn keeper and joins Snarg in investigating the river.

Before everyone leaves the innkeeper informs you that the problems began about 6 days ago.
You make your way to the river in relative silence, encountering no villagers nor guards on your path. The problem with it is visible even at a distance.
There is what appears to be blood running through it. A massive quantity, enough to tint over half the river red. The flow doesn't seem to be slowing nor stopping, and at a guess, you imagine it has been this way ever since their troubles began. The river flows from north to south.

- There are no traps, and you manage to sneak your way to the river undetected but can find nothing about it indicative. When you make your way back to the inn the only person you have to question is the innkeeper himself, who informs you that the problems began about 6 days ago, and that they attempted to post their Bill 4 days ago but had troubles between weather, Armordillos, and an apparent lock-down of Al-Erat getting the Bill posted. You also find out there is a cave a ways upstream which the river flows through.

Snarg leans close and sniffs the water closely. "It ain't stinkin'! That's strange like, it should be stinkin' to the ceilin'. This ain't one two bit right."
- Spoiler:
- Knowledge creatures, elements, and survival: is there anything I know that could mark the water like this but not leave the normal signs and cause strange symptoms like I'm seeing?

Re: Second Adventure 01: Through The Desert
Tabran casts Scan on the bloody part of the water:
- Spoiler:
- You learn that the river actually comes from much further up than the cave, appears to go underground for a ways before leading further north. The water itself is tainted with something that feels like poison but isn't, and has an obvious detrimental effect on any plant, beast, or humanoid that drinks it. While it has all the appearances of blood except scent, it is without question magical in nature, and you can determine there is a trace of Water Affinity in it.

From your knowledge of the elements you know something is Elementally wrong with the water. It's as though the water itself has been altered to become this 'blood', rather than the 'blood' being poured into it.

Pulling off a glove, Kolson sticks his left hand in the river, to see what the "blood" feels like.

The 'blood' at first has the standard consistency of water. However the longer you hold your skin in it the louder a scream grows in the back of your mind. And when you retrieve your hand from the river, the skin on your hand has grown pale and taught, as though ill.

The innkeeper looks almost amused. "Dozens," he replies somewhat morbidly. "We haven't had any deaths yet, Mayor's been taking good care to ration out the daytime water which is usually better for drinkin', but if we don't get this fixed soon we'll be picking up and abandoning the town by Sunday."Tabran Cole wrote:@innkeeper
