Here's a suggestion : if we give a YouTube link in this thread, could we please put it in a spoiler tag? Because the first page of this thread takes a long time to load...

So, threads like this always remind me why I don't really belong around other people. Barely heard of any of your guys' links, and zero comments on my own song.
I'll take a stab at one more song link; again, a song that has personal significance to me, though I'm not explaining this one.

I actually listened to almost all the links given in this thread and I think there is one specific reason as to why we find some songs more meaningful than others: because we tie it to a memory and/or a story that touched us. I'm not surprised Arch like so many video game songs, especially when the game they were composed for had really great stories. A good example :
Now, some of you who haven't heard this song before might like it. But I doubt you give it as much importance as I do since you most likely didn't watch the anime. So what I want to say is not "Go listen to this song", but "go watch that anime". And yeah, I know it sounds sad. I like sad music, what can I say?
- "My song" from the Angel Beats! anime:

Not bad. I like how they made the 8-bit sound more like trumpets and less electronic.
Most of the game music you (Arch) post I'm not familiar with, as I never had a game system until my X-Box that I got about 10 years ago. (Between my parents not allowing game systems in the house and then military deployments, I didn't get much exposure to the early games.) So with that, and possibly because of that, I'm not generally a fan of any of the 8-bit music.

*wonders if he should clarify what 8-bit refers to when it comes to music, decides against it since he knows what Gwydo means* I get what you mean honestly, though I joke about it I am something of an oddity when it comes to music. Even people who like synthetic music like I do generally don't listen to it exclusively like I do. So in the interests of reaching out to all you WEIRDOS out there--er I mean you normal adjusted people, here's two songs on what I imagine are opposite ends of the spectrum that I do honestly like.

LOL, err.... thanks?
Eiffle 65 I'm familiar with, insofar as their Blue (Da Ba Dee) and Move Your Body songs. While the music videos are kinda crap, I'm not opposed to the music itself.
Evanescence.... meh. Highly synthesized, and not in the classic 80's "good" way.
Of course this is coming from the guy who's been listening to swing music from the Cherry Poppin' Daddies and Big Bad Voodoo Daddies all day long, so... grain of salt and all.

Re: Music depot
These two songs are not really my taste... though I must admit the Eiffle 65 group is easier to listen to. But I would not go as far as to say it's bad. I just prefer the 70's and 80's kind of music.

Like I said, I normally at least automatically like it unless it's country or rap. You could possibly throw dubstep in on that group as well.
These soundtracks bring back a lot of memories. Command and Conquer was one of the first strategy games I ever played, followed up by the excellent Total Annihilation.

Re: Music depot
I still listen to a few C&C and TA tracks. Fun fact; Total Annihilation was very unusual for the time for using an actual orchestra instead of synthetic instruments. Now days that sort of thing is a bit more common but at the time that was a new idea.

Re: Music depot
Annihilation: very orchestral. Nice.
Tiberian Dawn: definite 80's electron (coming out of the disco era) feel...Would be good music to have in the background when needing to get something done (angrily).

Re: Music depot
I like Evanescence stuff too. Favorites out of all the tracks I have is likely What You Want because it played on the radio almost every day on the trip to Cartoon Network.
Total Annihilation really was a great game. It actually brought the war instead of just minor skirmishes. The orchestral soundtrack really complimented it well. Also, I can't believe I forgot to mention Hell March from Red Alert. It's kind of interesting how they changed it throughout the years. Hell March was originally slated to be used for the "bad guy" (Brotherhood of Nod) in the original Command and Conquer game if I recall correctly, but they ended up using it for Red Alert instead.

So proud. <Wipes tear from eye>
Now imagine the entire escape from the death goddess' dimension to a catchy tune like this starting with Jon's graffiti.

Well I was going to link a song but I literally can't find it. Perhaps someone who knows anime music better than I could pinpoint it.

It plays during his title crawl. I've heard it before but lost the name and have failed at finding an individual copy of it.
