Post-session #7: "Let's make a deal"
Will post post-session summary up here when I write it. In the meantime, everyone is level 3 - congrats!
---------
A Titan sat shackled in a darkly-lit, black marble room, his head brushing the top of the ceiling. Thsi room had not designed for large creatures such as himself, which only increased the discomfort of his position. He groaned and shifted his weight, trying in vain to find some comfortable position to release the aching as he glanced out through the open doorway at a spiral staircase beyond.
It was a busy day today in the tower of Pharasma. The Heralds were running every which way, somewhat confused as thousands of Elven warrior spirits swarmed in to the tower, joining the line of the other souls waiting for judgment.
The Titan winced again; not because of the current discomfort, but for the future pain he knew these new arrivals would bring him. He recognized his people's handiwork in bringing the Elves here and the further rage it had caused in Pharasma. Although he had little involvement in mess as a whole, he had been in the wrong place at the wrong time and became the scapegoat for Pharasma's little tantrum.
As he sat there in self-pity, he felt the hair on the back of his neck rise up as the air around him became electric. Recognizing a magical aura of some sort, he looked up and around the room. After a few sweeps, he had about given up until he saw a small, red, dancing spark in the corner of the room. Watching it curiously, he strained his ears as a faint whisper of voices came from the now-expanding spark, which had grown about as large as his fist.
"Yesss, it is opening," he heard a hissing voice say in Draconic, "this will work indeed! We just need the rest of them to make it large enough to move through." The spark flickered and then winked out of existence as the voice stopped.
Blinking, the Titan sat in the silence and wondered what had just happened. He knew enough about the magical arts to know it was some sort of gate, but from where, who, or why he couldn't imagine. The voice, although hard to hear, did not belong to any kin that he recognized. It was much too high-pitched for that.
He tested the shackles that bound him. They did not appear to be magically enchanted, so he knew that he could likely break them if he tried. However, the only thing that would do is anger the Heralds at this point, and he did not wish to pile anything else upon himself. However, if there was a chance of escape ... if the portal came by again...

I have chosen Scorching Ray and Sound Burst for my 2nd Level Spells. I forgot Magic Missile was one of my once-per-day spells, so I'd like to change my previous action against the Cyclops to using Magic Missile once, then Ray of Frost for my consecutive attacks.
Now, I think we've been making a mistake, or at least I have when giving you my Arcana bonus. Having proficiency in a skill means you can add your proficiency bonus to it. At character creation, you are choosing which skills you are proficient in, not which you have a bonus in.
In the "Background and Skills" document, it says, "a character’s class and background grant the character proficiency in one or more skills." So under the class details in the "Classes" document, when it says "choose one from A B or C", you're choosing one skill your class grants you proficiency in, and it doesn't give you a bonus due innately to your choice.
So a skill check consists of said skill's governing attribute and your proficiency bonus if there is one. This is explained in the "How to Play" document: "Proficiency in a skill simply allows a character to add his or her proficiency bonus to a check that is relevant to that skill." Which means my Arcana skill was supposed to be 3, but I kept giving you 4. At my current level, my Arcana check is 4: Int +2 and Proficiency Bonus +2.

And then, without warning, Toran aka Sorangath the Flayed was never heard from again.

I'll try. I haven't even had a chance to work on the next session, so that's even in jeopardy right now. Got a bunch of time-sensitive jobs all at once after Christmas so I'm trying to plow through that.

Re: Post-session #7: "Let's make a deal"
I'll probably have to postpone this due to work and getting other stuff done, really sorry about that, but I've got a lot to do and I haven't even had a chance to make up tomorrow's session. I promise I will do the summary this week though so there's something to look for!
Again, really sorry, I want to give you a good session so I don't want to rush it.

Well I appreciate that. That's why we have sessions every week instead of every day.
