Third Adventure 02: Golem and Crystal

As the water creature approaches, the party has won Initiative to act first.

Hanuel raises the freshly loaded crossbow, but holds back from firing to investigate the animated water.

Stepping in front of the group, Gwydo raises his shield, bracing for the inpact, hoping to deflect the incoming blow.

Rory douses the head of his steel battleaxe and holds it out towards Kolson. "Kol! Fire! Now!"

"YERP!" Snarg yelps out loud while reflexively looses several arrows at the globule.

Spoiler:

*kezrinthka watches the ripple of water move outward following its path and catches sight of the blob of water headed toward them at high speed.*

"I belive I may have brought trouble..."

*at this point Gwydo steps in front of her raising his sheild. She cast's reflect 2 non maximized on gwydo*

"You got it!" Pulling out flint and steel Kolson attempts to light Rory's axe but he's having trouble catching it and the seconds tick by.

"Come on, come on you stupid thing!"

It finally lights.

"Yes! Go get it, Rory!"

Sethos dives into the water's path, his quarterstaff out, ready to swing for the glob. A strong throb in the back of his head tells him this is literally the stupidest thing he's ever done, he ignores it, his staff ready, his breathing heavy, his mind blank, save for the sound of his heart attempting an escape.

The axe was lit. Rory beamed at the flame, and ran up to the west flank of the south door, readying his axe with both hands to take a swing as the magic water passed by.

With his rapier out, Zeiss waited in a defensive position. He prepared himself for the worst.

Sethos jumps in the air as the watery mass flies at him with the force of it's natural rage. His legs carry him up over the mass and his arms bring him down onto it with his quarterstaff beating on it's side with one, monster hit. The mass flies back from his bat into the wall to his left, it bounces off and then hit's the wall to the right before heading back to the left. The water, on each impact, shimmers but seems undamaged and the glow in the room grows dimmer, until finally the quarterstaff splashes right through the water, causing it to fall to the ground in a puddle of ordinary water.

*combat over*

*kezrinthka blinks as the water ball makes its final *SPLAT* on the ground and doesn't move, turning to Sethos and Gwydo*

"perhaps we should all carry bats instead of shields and axes..."

It was over. Zeiss looked at Rory with his axe on fire.

"Put that out. You look stupid."

"There is no way I'm giving up my shield" Gwydo says smiling "but I have to admit that was fairly effective!"

"Er, well. Guess group that be comin' here before us was REALLY bein' weak." Snarg says as he notches another arrow, "Was that bein' part of the Golem or did ya be sprinin' a trap?"

"No he doesn't. Fire axe's are awesome and what if there are more of them?"

"It was like a Golem, that's for sure." Hanuel walks over to the puddle and examines it closely.

The puddle is, without question, just plain water now. No magical or otherwise traces of anything in it.

*turning to Snarg*

It was a trap of sorts. It triggered because I got too close to the glowing water I believe."

Zeiss wrote:It was over. Zeiss looked at Rory with his axe on fire.

"Put that out. You look stupid."

"Yeah well I would've looked impressive," Rory snapped as he blew wind at the dying flames.

Sethos stares at the pool of water for a second before dropping the quarterstaff and throwing his hands in the air.
"WOOOO!" He shouts at the top of his lungs before turning to the rest of the group.
"Did you see that!?" He turns his smiling face back to the puddle. "In your face!" He shouts down at what he realises is his reflection before he clears his throat and crouches down to observe the now dormant water.

"Well, it's just plain water now. Lets move on. Cautiously though."

"Fire trap be makin' sense. Water trap not be makin' sense." Snarg says, cocking his head to the side. "Maybe ya be goin' first, Burun, if ya so good at fightin' water?"

"After you, Gwydo." indicating that Gwydo should lead once more.

Clearing his throat and gesturing at Zeiss "As I was saying, let's proceed down the hallway and you do the trap finding thing, yes?"
