February 15th: Assault on Janwall

"Oh, I like this. I like this alot. The bigger the better, heh. Thank you, Javan. I'll make sure it's used properly!"

Zeiss:
Unfortunately you only find several kegs filled with gunpowder, and a few pewter vases with whale oil.

Tabran:
While you are out and about on the western side of town you spot what looks like a small raiding party of dangerous looking Elves and a Dwarf, with hatchets and daggers ready, stealthily making their way towards the town. If they spotted you they show no sign.

Zeiss brings back the gunpowder and the oil to the war meeting room, not without keeping some gunpowder for himself.

tab takes out the signal whistle and the short bow from his back taking careful aim at the lead attacker before loosing a shot and blowing the whistle 3 short sharp hoots, then grabbing a second arrow for a second shot.

Snarg races back in to town on all fours, running as fast as he can. "They're coming! They're on their way! Spotted a raiding party in that direction coming up fast!" He points back towards where he came from.

"How many Snarg?" Hanuel then hears the whistle blow from Tabran. "Three that way... Alright, Ashakel, Rory, think you can back up Tabran?"

Tabran:
Of the 5 shots you get off, two successfully strike the Elf Fighter and manage to hit him twice, slowing him down slightly but not significantly enough. He will be on you in mere seconds to hack at you.

Snarg responds that four people were coming from the north.

Right about at this point you hear the bell from the east, closer to the coast, clanging like mad.

Hanuel and Dara(Toilarin) wrote:"How many Snarg?" Hanuel then hears the whistle blow from Tabran. "Three that way... Alright, Ashakel, Rory, think you can back up Tabran?"

Rory freed his axe. "Oh, I can do more than back him up," he replied in a deep tone, the excitement palpable in his voice.

"Looks like we're out of planning time." Hanuel quickly unsummons, then resummons Dara, and sends them out to the coast ahead of time. "Snarg, take Javan, Gwydo and Sethos with you. The rest of you come with me. We'll pick Caladrius up on the way over. I recommend the towns people stay out of it, I think we're better rested and better able to fight."

having done what little he can tab makes full speed for the town just as he heard the Bell start to ring out.

Zeiss gets his rapier ready and goes toward the docks at full speed.

"Let's go!" Snarg, sword in hand, races out to intercept the raiding party.

Javan dons his nondescript helm in a hurry and attempts to keep with Snarg's pace, his half-plate getting in the way from time to time.

"Alright, let's see if this beauty is as good as it is looks!", said the Fairy while trying to find his new weapon's center of balance while following the gnoll.

Zeiss looks at the ship on the horizon, trying to find a way to get rid of the little boat coming their way. Then an idea comes to his mind. He decides to return to Hanuel.

Zeiss manages to sneak his way back to Hanuel without incident, though it's a bit slow going for caution's sake. The landing boat is now less then a minute away.

"Hanuel, I think I found a way to get rid of these soldiers! It will require a lot of deception, but it might work. But I need the Mirror Key! Now!"

Zeiss has a look of genuine urgency on his face. He is holding out his hand.

Snarg hastily mutters several words in Undercommon and the familiar white flash washes over him as he performs the curing motions.

Spoiler:

Plopping down his backpack, he attaches a grappling hook to one end of his rope and tightly ties a mining pick to the other. After double-checking the knots, he fastens the contraption on himself like a bandoleer along with his other weapons.

Seemingly satisfied with his gear, he grabs the grappling hook in his right hand and begins creeping along the buildings towards the south.

After several tense moments you manage to make it into the building closest to the shore, about where the landing barge will be making berth and remain unseen.

we need something to give us the edge even if this first lot are lambs to the slaughter there is to many of them to take in a straight up fight.

and why has that ship not blown us to bits if they are as bad as the elf made out they shouldnt be bothered about killing bystanders?

tab takes a quick look around the building he is in to see what is there that he could use to make an advantage?

Spoiler:

Hanuel looks at Zeiss, still suspicious of what he was planning. "What do you need it for?"

"They are going to arrive in less than an minute! So just give me the damn thing so I can send them away!"

"Send them where? To the tower!? No way. No one deserves that."

"Yeah? Tell that to the villagers they are going to kill. Fine, I will create an explosion then. Like at the inn."
