That is not how my mind works. I only know if it's scripted if I should have died but didn't, and not because I lucked out. In other words, after-the-fact.

Well, i'm like that with some things, mostly movies, but when i have to tactically tackle a situation like this, it invariably becomes a variable. My mind just goes tere.

Not gonna spoil, but the whole thing was electrifying.

I almost played two hours of Alien Isolation. Haven't met the Alien yet. I walk really slow and sometimes I just freeze at one sound. I know I'll have my first encounter soon though : I just saw the first locker I can hide in and I started to get a few tools to progress the game. And since I've been playing video games for twenty years now, I'm capable of recognizing a section of the map that has been designed for such an encounter.

Next time I play, I'm gonna cry.

Some tips to try and ease your pain: It's fine to walk in areas where you're not worried about being visually spotted. As far as could tell, it makes no greater noise that crawling.

As for running, i've seen bits of playthroughs where people just sprint everywhere like idiots, and it doesn't actually get them into as much trouble as i thought it would. I still don't recommend it, though, but i guess it depends on what level you're playing.

Vent shafts are your friends, lockers too, but beware of using the motion tracker very close to an enemy, cause he'll hear it. Also, if someone is snooping around very close to a locker you're hiding in, lean back and press the right mouse button to hold your breath. To resume breathing, stop leaning back, but keep in mind she'll take a bit of a gasp. Not all that loud, but still something to watch out for.

Sometimes you may want to save, but the phone thing warns you there are enemies nearby. As i understand it, the game does reload their rough proximity, but their position is always random. What i mean is, the game won't screw you over for saving when there are enemies nearby. You'll still have to be extra cautious when you make that kind of save, but you don't have to worry about being instantly attacked over and over after a load.

So I had my first "battle" with the Alien yesterday, meaning I was hiding and stuff. And it was terrifying.

Let me explain the situation : there is an elevator which I can use to escape. But it's locked and I need to hack it before I can access it. Hacking in this game is simple but requires some concentration. And it might surprise you, but it's kind of difficult to stay focused on one thing when you know the Alien is thirty feet behind you, searching. It also doesn't help when your hands are slightly shaking, which can mess up the hacking process, and your heart is pounding.

Also, these freaking developers put Alien sounds into the damn music! It's really subtle, but goddammit, when you're hiding for your life, I don't need to hear the Alien when it's not even near me!

Are you talking about the Tram? I don't remember doing any hacking there, just pushing the button and waiting, while the ambiance tried to drive me insane.

Good stuff, though. If Amanda doesn't make character of the year, i'll call bullshit on the whole video game award system.

I don't like it. It's magic, but they're calling it "nanotechnology". Said apprentice is an apprentice of "nanotechnology". Doesn't look like they're interested in world building or creating a proper scifi setting, just using the genre to make the events or conflict seem more likely in the distant future. The protagonist's goal weighs heavy with hidden agenda.

The Dark Souls games are great. It culls the weak, and nurtures the strong. With pain. And suffering.

Still great game.

Actually, the cull the weak thing is mostly something the people who call this game too hard came up with. The people who are good at it are usually nice and helpful, at least in my experience.

From my point of view, this video wasn't mocking Dark Souls. Just points out the funniest parts in it.
