Re: OOC Discussion
Wow, everyone is alive in the campaign. What a relief! And I have mah internet working for me, even tested it with some Diablo 3 play and it all seems fine, so might as well start posting when Javan becomes relevant again.
Btw, playing Diablo 3 with a PS4 controller and Pinnacle Gaming Profile is surprisingly more relaxing than doing the same with keyboard and mouse.
Also, Leisure Suit Larry + Batman + Game Grumps? Man, it took me too long to find this episode... and it is somehow SW-related! Starts 5 mins in.

I agree Javan. There is just something so much more natural about the controller when playing Diablo or Diablo-style games.

Well, I'm happy to hear that Javan. I'm sure you were also happy I didn't mess up and kill you with the acid I used to free you from your chains.

Re: OOC Discussion
Yeah, they have great articles every so often.
A friend of mine played a Pixie Barbarian, which is a kind of fairy. It worked out pretty well. She used the biggest hammer she could legally wield and went to town on all the monster's faces. All of them.
I still have her character sheet somewhere if you want to take a look at it. It's for 4e though.

Re: OOC Discussion
Off topic, but i just watched the 2nd and 3rd Rurouni Kenshin movies. I'm hardly a fan of Live Action adaptations, but they really won me over. If anyone here likes that series, might wanna have a look at them.

Re: OOC Discussion
I believe they tackle the Shishio arc yes?
@Zeiss Himura Kenshin was a man slayer, kind of like a master swordsman who worked as an assassin, during the Meiji Rebellion, the one that overthrew the Tokugawa Shogunate and brought about the end of the samurai.
The manga/show/movie takes place during the Meiji Era, where Japan was flooded with Western ideas and was being rebuilt by the winners. To make up for all the blood he spilled during the war, Kenshin vows to never kill again and wanders the land as an adventurer of sorts, using what's called a reverse-blade sword, one where the killing edge is along the inside of the blade facing towards him and the blunt side faces out towards his enemies. It was a great manga with a great anime adaptation that got it mostly right.
There's a lot more to it than that, but that's a fast run down of the Rurouni Kenshin series.

Thanks for the summary. I could have googled it, but I wouldn't have the perspective of a fan.

Re: OOC Discussion
Yeah, these two movies made up the Kyoto Arc.
I wonder if they'll ever adapt the Jinchuu Arc in any real format, but regardless, Tatsuya Fujiwara - his average height notwithstanding, killed it as Shishio. You can still tell it's him at some points - he's kind of unmistakable when he yells (and really, the dude played Kira), but other than that, he was spot-on.
On the subject, Takeru Satō will probably be remembered as Kenshin for a long time. Normally, it's my high hope that a live action adaptation will manage the characters without them coming across as lesser than the source material. So it's pretty crazy for me to be saying that i actually enjoyed Satō's performance BETTER than the source. It's not like he's more Kenshin than Kenshin or something, but the vulnerability he adds to the character is something that never came across in the Manga or Anime. He still tries to smile his way through every uncomfortable situation with his friends, but this time you can see him strain to do so; or when something starts getting on his nerves (like when a certain warlord massacres a certain village) you can see it in his face and attitude more intensely than just his grimm stare.
Overall, i found myself enjoying the character interactions more than the action itself, and that's saying something, for a movie industry so plagued with overacting like the Japanese, even if we weren't talking about an Anime adaptation.
Had it's holes here and there, of course, but it was still an awesome 2 hours per movie.
