Edit: So uh... Berserk Warriors is a thing that's coming out. I'll totally play it if it comes to PC. It IS a Warriors game and for as much as I like to bash Berserk for being a depressing setting, I really like the designs in it.

From the Golden Age Arc to the Falcon of the Millennium Empire Arc, slated for Sept 21 for PS3, PS4 and Vita in Japan. The rest of the world gets it later, including PC. Finally like most most Warriors games, it'll have some interactions that don't happen in the canon, which is always fun to watch. Except for me, that will not get it.

But hey, I get to see Guts wearing the Berserker Armor go apeshit. So yeah, silver lining.

I really, really wish I was a dog person right now.

Surprise long-winded what-if

You know what sounds cool to me? An old-school RPG video game set in the Berserk universe. Guts isn't really my style, though. I'd love to follow a regular dude+friends around doing their best to survive in the world as mercs/soldiers who has their own separate (main game) story arc that gets tied up with the grander "Guts vs Griffith" arc. Eventually meeting Guts(might be Guts takes them as grunts he can send on errands and missions, while he has his own thing to do), the whole time, one grizzled veteran soldier can recount the times he's been on tour with aid from the Band of the Hawk, or just Guts when Guts was still flying solo, to build up the reveal when the party gets dragged into conflict between Guts and Griffith - all the while they take contracts to fight in feudal conflicts or kill demons making life terrible for people, with interspersed moral dilemmas (and the attitudes of party members toward their profession ranging from the genuinely kind and helpful, to those who follow true mercenary principles).

That sounds like a fun "what if" scenario. I think you'd have to change the nature of Guts' curse slightly to make it work though. People who are around him when it does its thing tend to get dead. It's why he travels mostly alone on his suicidal quest of revenge.

So yeah K. This is a thing that might pick your interest. It's like Dark Souls, but less Dark yet still work somehow. Is your mind blown away yet? No? Good. It is being made by Arc System Works, and they made some interesting things with the death system too.

Something tells me Arch might like this game better.

EARTH DEFENSE FORCE 4.1 The Shadow of New Despair is a thing on Steam right now. Even if you don't know what the game is all about, I suggest you to watch the videos anyways. The levels of cheese in that video are high, and they play out as a desperate EDF recruiting campaign.

And the Walking Fortress Balam... oh man... when the description of a giant robot is "It has no weapons... But to Balam, weapons are like toys", you know you are in for something special.
