First Adventure 05: Licking Wounds Amongst Party & Allies

The Centaur boss has been slain, nothing remaining of his body but a pile of rubble and stone. Should you choose to peruse the various corpses of the Centaurs you find virtually nothing worth looting at all, save their 7 Longbows.

Whis Kor groans as he clutches his injuries. He is barely standing, but still remains functional. He pokes the rubble curiously with his scimitar before turning his attention to helping those on the ground.

Hanuel breaths out, dropping to their knees shakily, crossbow falling to the ground. For a moment, Hanuel breathes, then as the adrenaline of battle starts to drain, Hanuel looks around wildly, as if just noticing something. "D-dara?" Hanuel mutters weakly, before panic set in. "DARA!?" Hanuel's breathing becomes rapid. "Where are you!? Don't leave me! DARA?!" Hanuel cries out in fear and agony, before collapsing to the ground, whimpering and barely conscious, body quaking.

Ouch. Finally coming to, Kolson groans out to no one in particular, "Did we win?"

After resting on his back for a while he decided to turn over. Slowly. It hurt quite a bit, but he managed it. It hurt even more to rise. The first thing he checked was his hat, which fortunately remained on his head. It was fine. He was immeasurably relieved.

Next, he started checking himself for major injuries...

Rory reared menacingly at the rubble. Where was the corpse? He wanted it to be there so badly, just to do violent actions with it: cut off the head, hack the belly open and splay the innards about, something, as an outlet for his anger at the situation. Before the needs of his allies could force him to calm down, he power walked towards to the nearest centaur corpse by the ravine and proceeded to dismember large, generic chunks from it.

By the time he had noticed the others' wounds, Dara lying dead, and Kolson barely standing on his knees, he had already cut off the head and had been kicking it around for a gratifyingly large amount of satisfaction. He abandoned his activity before it got too morbid for his sanity and rushed over to the others, making it overtly apparent that he was offering his aid, but knew not what to do. As he stood just west of Ashakel, he silently glanced around, his eyes appealing to the others for suggestions. Then they landed on Whis Kor.

Rory's expression turned to one partly guilty, uncertain, and indignant equally. Would the Lizard blame this on tactical incompetence? Would he blame Ashakel for his ignorance towards a stealthy approach? Or the mages, for their apparent lack of mana conservation? Rory awaited with baited breath. He would simply walk it off and try to deal with his own baggage if the Sclavi did not pursue him as part of the reason to blame. If he did, he was going to give him every reason to back off.

*Higaide clutches his ribs with his right arm, on his knees, panting heavily.

Slowly gets up, and wipes the blood from his mouth... only to taste the blood of the centaur sticking onto his knuckles.*

"(Dammit, i'll get an infection.)"

*This day was just getting better and better. No, really. It had just been one giant mess after another, after another, after... actually, he'd better shut up. It'd be just his luck for the thing's mother to come charging out of the woods, out for blood because we killed her only child, who was actually a nice guy, just largely misunderstood, and whose only ambition was to live in peace among the corpses of every bug eyed slain creature he couldn't eat at the time, because he really likes his meat well done, preferably flash-fried.

He walks over to the formerly cohesive lump of coal in front of him and KICKS the carcass with all the strength he has left. Which isn't much, and nearly causes him to fall over. But whavever.*

Raver dusts himself, the only ones in the party that were not injured seem to be the Lycanthropes. He was skeptical of the foolish and irrational actions his team conducted, but they were lucky to be right. He frowns and examines his hand, feeling his mana all but drained from him. If he contributed much in the fight, he did not know, nor did he really cared.

Throughout the day he has learned something new, that he is severely unfit to be a member of a large party, and being in the midst of people. But that doesn't mean he won't try to stay.

With a deep breath, his eyes turn to the sun setting down. He whispers to himself.

"You were wrong... You left too soon, Father."

"Oh?" asks Kolson, "That's weird."

Having determined that he would live, Kolson struggles to his feat and managed to walk more than limp over to the corpse of the centaur's leader. He begins muttering to himself in thought trying to figure out what happened.

*hearing Raver whisper something Tabran looks up and seeing him looking at the setting sun*

"that's a point do we rest here for a time and lick our wounds or head back to town?"

With blood still dripping from his shoulders, Ashakel drops on his knees, looking at the rubble of the slain Centaur, before letting the regeneration energies of his blood to do their part. He looks around for his comrades, in order to check if every one has made it... And they have, barely.

With rage slowly abandoning his mind, he notices Hanuel in pure agony, like a piece of his soul was being ripped apart from him. Was this Ashakel's fault, for being unable to resist the call of battle?

"Cut off their heads and put them in a sack" he speaks just loudly enough so that everyone can hear him. "We're taking them to town."

"We're heading back immediately." Whis Kor says as he begins searching the bodies of the Centaurs. "This battle was loud and there could be more nearby that will respond."

barely conscious and hardly able to move Araiguna crawls using only one arm to lurch himself forward ever so slowly. "I could defiantly use some of that morphine right now... we need to get me, and the rest of the wounded somewhere to heal before any more of this crap gets flung our way" he pauses for a moment... "as soon as I find who is behind all of this I swear I am going to ruin them!"

*Wanders around for a bit, getting his bearings. Then notices a familiar spot close to a ruffled patch of tall grass, where a centaur corpse now lay. His whole body aching, a feeling of disgust creeps up from his spine, until it boils into anger. He grabs hold of the centaur corpse by one leg and drags it off, away from there. He struggles with the sheer weight of it, but persists, gritting his teeth, until he's finally kicking and tackling it, almost off the ravine, until what little energy he had in him is spent, and he just falls over.

He sits up on the ground, but doesn't stand.*

"I need rest, and I don't care where I get it." He replies the fox.

Caladrius looks around wondering that the hell happened? The recent event being a total blur. He must has acted on pure instinct as if some outside force was controlling his actions.

"I'm sure the inhabitants of the ravine fortress will be very impressed by the mutilated corpses." Whis Kor says with a tired and slightly sour expression on his face. He pauses as he searches the remaining Centaur bodies, seemingly marking each position they were situation in and taking inventory of their equipment.

"Look most of you can't even stand let alone make the 30 or 40 min walk to town and you whis look half dead despite the brave face your putting on, I say we rest here for a bit even if its gust for half an hour for you guys to catch your breth. Me and Raver look like we took the lest of it so we can have a scout around and see if its safe?

"I agree." Comments Raver. "Walking to town right now at nightfall feels... Risky. To say the least."

"Could we rest in the caves? I am still taking at least one of their heads, we could use it." Ashakel approaches the corpse of the centaur he had slain, and cuts of his head.

"We should cut the tails off and feed'em to Harkun. Too bad the leader's head just turned to rubble."

*Maybe it was worth searching the scorched remains for it? He really had a mind to let the Guardian wake up in the morning to the sight of the disembodied head of his prize stallion over there, but that plan just went up in smoke. Literally.*

"If we don't have enough manpower to drag everyone back to town, then at least we will take refuge in the ravine fortress. An open battlefield is not necessarily the best place to recover."

Speaking to Whis Kor "Not to mention amongst the corpses. You never know what they'll attract."

Taking off his gauntlet, Gwydo places his hand on the Elemental's tree. Speaking softly, as if saying a prayer, and sending out calm and comforting thoughts, he attempts to call the Life Elemental from the cavern below.

"By the Holy tenements of Life; for those I have sworn to protect, I call to thee Leafsong. I implore you, heed my call and imbue us with your healing energies so that we may continue our quest of justice. Help us bring down the 'Guardian' so that he may do no more violence. He must not be allowed to continue to hurt and manipulate anyone else."
