- Spoiler:
I'd like to find out who's likely to be in the paths to and in the surrounding area of the first and second bills. Also, I'd like to know what types of beasts and terrain we would be encountering in those paths as well.
Information on the situation and leadership in Kheynth and Al-Ferin would also be helpful.
My knowledges are nature, politics, and elements and are all +7. My survival is +11.
- Spoiler:
- The eastern path towards Kheynth is more likely to encounter bandits or roaming monsters, as the area is less patrolled and less civilized in general. The path towards Kheynth will also be a bit rougher in general, roaming through the sands and winds assuming the weather is unkind. There are quite a few armordillos and reedsharks that roam the vicinity, feral and otherwise.
Kheynth is a sleepy farming town with no great significance, and based on the Bill you (accurately) surmise that the reason they are resorting to a Bill is they have been considered not important enough to warrant state assistance. However there is a rather large river that flows through the town and comes from the hills north, closer to Al-Jalima, and continues south for a ways which makes it a popular spot for people who wish to settle down.
The southern path is extremely well traveled as it happens to be part of the Gold Road and it goes right through Al-Ferin and keeps on going all the way to the Spacial Temple. It will be quite crowded with travelers of all types, which will mean almost no chance of random monsters but a far higher chance of the more adept pickpockets and it is much easier to follow someone in such a path should there be a desire to do so.
Al-Ferin has formal Naverre troops stationed there, to defend the nearby silver and aluminum mines which bring the town most of its wealth. Al-Ferin is almost large enough to be considered a city, and its Mayor has long since been playing at political games to replace Tol'tarn as Governor of the state. It is a town reliant almost entirely upon imports; they grow no food nor have any reliable supplies of water nearby. A literal daily chain of merchants brings base necessities into town, being reasonably paid given the mundanity of their cargo as the town is quite wealthy overall off its mineral exports. As a result living there is very sparse and expensive both. The Order chose to set up a post there due to the proximity to the Spacial Ley Line.

"Ah-ha, yes, yes!" Snarg exclaims, looking excited. He looks away from studying the notices and turns to the group. "Awright, here's what ya got:
If we go on east ta Kheynth, ya probably gonna run inta bandits or some of them nasty roamin' monsters ya'll hear about. It's not easy for ya to get there, goin' past all them sands, wind, and nasty business weather. Armordillas, reedsharks, and other nasties and whats gonna get ya.
Kheyneth ain't no important place; it's just a little place some folks are settlin' down slow-like. There's some river water there so they've got that goin' for 'em. They probably ain't got any state guards there which is why they got this notice up. That river runs close to Al-Jalima and a little ways outh o' there. There's settlers all over that bank.
South path is pretty common for travelers. It's part of the Gold Road and sweeps right through Al-Ferin all the way to the Spacial Temple - quite a sight I'm hearin'. There's lots of travelin' on that road so there ain't gonna be a good chance to get attack by nasties, but you'll get ya gold stolen from them friendly 'travelers'.
Navaerre got some troops at Al-Ferin 'cause of 'em silver and aluminum mines people like 'em for. Honest, Al-Ferin's almost a city and the mayor's wantin' to replace Tol'tarn as govner last time I heard. Importin' town from what I gather since they don't grow no food or have no water. They got merchants goin' in and out all the time or else they'll dry up. Expensive to live there if you're one of them few that do plop down. The Order's there because of the Spacial Ley there - they got a small post up.
That's what I can tell ya off the top of the ears." The Gnoll finishes his information dump and leans back on the notice board.

At this, Rory lowers his voice so that only party members can hear him.
"If we hope to do anything else about this conspiracy that seems to have ended at Harkun's trail, we should talk to the governor before we leave. Then we should head to Al-Ferin for the bill, and then talk to the mayor for a start. Harkun was fleeing south, so he might have had a contact there. The Goblin who wrote the Gnolls' contract is a possibility. I know this might be a long shot, but it's all we have left at this point."

"South." Hanuel speaks up suddenly. "I -need- to go south. The temple is there." Images of the spacial temple floor Hanuel's mind briefly, as if filtering in from a near-forgotten dream. "Oh but if we go there, these old clothes won't do. I should head to the market. I'll need new clothes, I don't want to look like a beggar." Hanuel trails off, muttering under their breath in excitement.

"Hey, hey, what's all this about a goblin writin' a contract fer us Gnolls?" Snarg said in a hushed voice, drawing several of the taller members of the group down to his level in an impromptu huddle.

"im sorry you know of the whole Oakheart situation and how he came to Gnawbone with a contract that would let you get a home in exchange for you roughing up the town a bit, well i learned that the contract was written up by a yellow mage that was a Goblin, Gnawbone said that he had never seen this Goblin and no one around town has eather so we are at kind of a loss as to that, i mean its not like goblins are a common sight so if one showed up you would think some one would have taken note..."

"I say we go to Kheynth. I'm not a fan of tunnels, and I DON'T plan on fighting in any. plus it seems the research facility has more than enough resources to hire someone else who can do the job. Honestly, I'm worried about that small desert town not having any water."

"Ooooyyehhh, that's the contract the boss was talkin' about then. But yeah, I told ya there's some water runnin' close to Kheynth. Assumin' they ain't dried up a whole river somehow, they'll have some water for ya. Wouldn't be much use goin' out there without it. Alsa, makes it easy to find as dirt on a miner's paws, yeah."

Looking to Gwydo :
"Life is life. Even if they are artificial. Or maybe you want to tell our lycanthrope colleagues that they do not deserve your attention and are no more than some baubles that can talk and walk? I'm sure they'll appreciate that."
Zeiss stopped talking. He did not need to say anything, but he wanted to.
"I vote for south. It is less dangerous and more profitable. Another group will probably take the other bill anyway. We don't have to worry about these villagers."

"Its OK, I know he didn't mean anything by it, but the golem on its own isn't the problem its running amok in a mining town and while I have never seen a golem first hand I have hearted how much damage they can do and I'm guessing them miners won't stand a chance without help?!"

"Indeed," nodding solemnly at the lycanthropes, "I meant no disrespect to our companions. However, an artificial creation was still created artificially. Water is natural. Birth is natural. A “golem” is neither birthed or natural.
While I agree it needs to be dealt with, I empathize with the miners that are suffering from their creation. However I feel the water in the desert, providing life to the land and residents, should come first.
I can only imagine the long term effects of the desert affected by poisoned or diverted water."

"Although I understand the fairy's spiritual journey, and there is nothing more sacred to her than that, I will put my voice for Kenyth. It is less crowded and I would enjoy the wilderness. Also, we need to form a stronger bond through combat as a group, we are warriors after all aren't we? Fighting wild beasts an bandits along the way will be a good way to better and test ourselves in the heat of battle."

"If ya ask me," Snarg says, tapping his ear with one claw, "ya be wantin' to head down to Al-Ferin if yer wantin' the best shot at gold. I'd be headin' there if that's what yer after; safer travelin' too. I ain't no water man so I dunno what they're wantin' adventurers to do 'bout their river. Little vague if I'm an honest Gnoll - and I am. 'course, if you're the helpin' type, I wouldn't be mindin' goin' and helpin' them settlers, but that ain't the safe path."

"Do not pretend to know how I should act..."
He looked again at the billboard.
"Still, I will also follow the majority."
Either way, he would learn many things on this journey.
