Re: First Adventure 09: Epilogue
"Three days. Threeee days!" Snarg holds up three fingers to make his point ever clearer, "That's how many rations ya need if we don't run inta trouble. If ya don't have what ya by the time we're leavin', then you'll be eatin' desert critters on the way. Bring whatever ya can carry but don't burden yerself too heavy. Looks like ya got most of ya wantin' to head into the desert so that's where we're goin'." With that, he bounds off towards the marketplace.
- Spoiler:
- I'd like to plan out a route after purchasing some items from the market. As always, survival is +11 and knowledge creatures, elements, and politics is +7. Also, if there's any travelers wanting to go to our way or caravans, I'll approach them to see if they'd consider joining. Safety in numbers!
Edit: Any mods on book price for rations and such?

It looked like the group had reached a decision : save the helpless.
"...I'm also going to buy supplies."
He went to the market.

Snarg:
As it happens there is a fairly small group of people traveling eastwards Al-Jalima and will be taking the pole road, which will take you right by Kheynth. You also hear from some travelers who have just arrived from the east that there's been harsher winds than usual to the east, as well as some troubles with Armordillos having declared a chunk of the road their nest.

- Spoiler:
- Snarg eventually meets every one unless you purposely hide and tells you the following:
"Oh, boyo, we got us a convoy! There's a group of folks travelin' towards Al-Jamila. We're gonna be joinin' up with 'em 'til Kheynth. We got some trouble brewin'; bad winds and Armordillas so bundle up and be sharp, yip, yip." Snarg runs behind you and pulls you down, checking your equipment. He pats you on the back very strongly before bounding off again.
- Spoiler:
- I'm assuming we're given a time and location where the convoy will be leaving or set it ourself. I'll convey that info.

"Thank you for that, Snarg," snarks Kolson, getting up from the pat down. "Does anyone know anything about Armordillas?"

Snarg:
- Spoiler:
- Armordillos are long, short reptiles that are covered in a hard shell that bristles with long, bony blades. They are fiercely territorial and generally hostile to all non-Armordillos, despite their nomadic nature. They can curl up their long bodies into an almost buzzsaw shape to move much more quickly along the ground, churning dirt and foliage up as they go. Armordillos range in size from 3 feet long to upwards of 12. Attempts at domesticating the creatures have met with varied success, generally resulting in one exception as a pet. All attempts to utilize the creatures for military purposes have failed. They tend to be a common site amongst the Reach and the Naverre lands in general for the long stretches of land that are relatively unsettled. Generally about once a season they will pick out a spot and guard it as their own territory to mate and feed, before moving on once more.

"Them's looong . . . er, no, shoooort . . . long and short lizards that're all bristlin' with looooong, bone blades, yep. They don't like any comin' close and'll kill ya if ya do. They curl up inna spinner and cut ya in half real quick-life if they see ya." Snarg makes a buzzing sound and kicks up a bunch of sand in a line.
"They go from this big," Gnawbone stretches out his hands very far, "to this big!" He draws a line in the sand, runs over about 12 feet, and then draws another line the sand. "They ain't likin' no one and they're swarmin' all over the Reach and Naverre where there ain't no one; like to build their nests about once a year in them places. That's when they're gettin' real mean and nasty to ya."

"Interesting. Is it better to avoid them or to fight them? If we do fight them, how would you recommend we do it?"

Edit: okay now that I'm on my computer and properly type....
*Kezrinthnka heads to the market, she needs to pick up a few things for the journey. She stops at one shop to buy a simple scarf to wrap round her head in case of high winds. One of those desert wind storms had picked up on her way here and she had been tasting dust in her mouth for hours afterward. This accomplished she picks up some much needed supplies to add to her dwindling pouch of fig rations. She gathers enough food supplies to feed herself for a week, dried figs, dried meats, some nice starchy vegetables that won't ruin easily, some eggs, and a sack of flour to make into bread. She also refills her water skin. She longingly gazes at the fancy blue robe, but passes it up for an even sweeter treat, the book stall. Specifically she is looking for a cook book with local recipes. On her travels she discovered that she loves to try new foods and loves learning to cook those foods for herself. These things accomplished she returns to the inn for dinner and a good rest. Perhaps tonight she could convince the Inn Keeper to pass on the recipe for his Armadillo Steak, it sounded like that would come in handy in the days to come.

"Eh, ya don't get near 'em. Set traps for 'em, and if ya get unlucky, get a mage to cook 'em before they buzz ya in half. In a pinch get a spear and take 'em on far aways-like. Ya don't wanna be that close still, nope; that skins a reeaaal piece to pierce with spears."
