Sixth Adventure 02: The Metropolis of Holtburg

Dara walks over and leans down, looking at the eevee suspiciously.

"Bellanai was given a one-use item that would let him know she's in town. Hopefully, if he's still here, it should help us get in to the royal district. Or, possible get him to come meet us."

Eevee goes under the bed, still exploring the room. She stops at Fierneceal's feet and smell her.

"Then let's use it."

Fedwaith looks at Fierneceal.

Fierneceal considers. "I've been hesitant because I've been thinking. It's been over three weeks since I was given a couple-day mission with no word at all. I can assume they know I was... successful but I have no idea what the range on this thing is, or where they are now, or if they're even still waiting, or if they have the item it's connected to."

Eevee returns to Fedwaith's side and hops on his shoudler.

"Then maybe a mage should cast scan on it."

Hanuel:
You determine from your examination of the letter that it is tied to a specific other item, most likely on Baigen's person (or at least it was), and can only be activated once before burning up the letter and the magic involved. It has a fairly high range, past what you can determine, so it's likely it will reach the other item regardless.

Tabran:
You pick up the local newspaper to read on the way to the Country Rider and are browsing it, seeing nothing of real note except for a very small, 4 paragraph article entitled "Where's The Vesayens?" which details that the regular ships that have been hauling people and goods from the newly discovered island of Vesayen Lassel have not been seen in almost a solid week now, and several of the 'Humans' left in Holtburg are now apparently stranded, unsure of when their ship will return to reclaim them. They are understandably concerned about the situation.

*At approximately noon, Mardant emerges from his room. He goes down to the restaurant to see what is for lunch.*

The server is no where to be seen, probably someone who just works the breakfast shift.

*Mardant sits at a table enjoying today's lunch selection. Roasted prime rib at a 10 ounce luncheon cut served with parmigiana spaghetti, soup du jour (wild herb rice soup), and with freshly chilled Holtbeers (which is actually root beer).*

As the group is going about their business they are reminded that they agreed to meet at the Country Rider to discuss their findings and plans for the future. It would probably be wise to send representatives rather than have the entire group congregate.

After waking up and having some delicious fruit for breakfast, Ashakel walked out of the inn. He was headed towards the Low Commons district, hoping to find a poet or a writer who could use some extra gold.

Everyone is chattering about the Council of Lords, which has still not left session, an event unprecedented. There is considerable worry about exactly what they will decide, and rumors abound.

"Zansoa" does manage to find a student who is currently attending classes in the High Commons who is a bit low on money as he's been having trouble holding a steady job, but is fairly well versed in the literary arts.

You find out that the Islander Outreach, the ship that you yourself sailed over on, has rented a permanent docking spot in the North Docks and makes near constant trips between Vesayen Lassel and Holtburg, hauling Pyreal primarily and taking back supplies, gold, et cetera. You also learn more and more Humans have been purchasing trips on the Outreach to leave the Vesayen Lassel permanently, and several have made a home in Holtburg and elsewhere throughout the Kingdom. You also learn that it's been a full week since the Outreach has been seen, which is highly unusual and has several people worried, including sailors who had taken temporary shore leave only for their ship to not return.

*Tries to find the whereabouts of some of those sailors, since they'd have the most recent information.*

After the fairy tells him what he found out about the object that will signal Baigen, Zeiss goes to the Country Rider to meet the representative of the other group and explain what they are going to do. After that, he plans to return to Hanuel's and Fierneceal's room to wait for Baigen.

Higaide:
You do manage to find a single Human sailor who is currently very, very drunk, leaning against a post in a pier and mumbling to himself.

*Approaches the sailor.*

"Hey, buddy. Rough day?"

Higaide:
The human looks up blearily at you. "Rough week... pushed off, got my pay, wanted to see the city... this place is almost as big as the whole island!" He makes exaggerated hand gestures. "And now the ship ain't comin back and there's talk that it ain't ever comin' back and I guess that ain't so bad, I can prolly get on another ship, just... these alien types weird me out..." he shakes his head.

"Nah, you get used to them. Just watch out for the man-children, those will annoy the piss outta you. So how was the island, last you saw? I've been away for about a month now, so i'm out date."

"Oh, I ne'er really stepped foot onto it, but it's been fixed for forever. I mean there's still that damn 'weather' crap I can't get used to, and all that, but the three Houses've been workin' together ever since so it's been good."

Kort eases open the door to his and peers out of his door. Looking around hesitantly for a moment, he eases out, ushering Tipar out behind him. He scampers down the stairs with his companion in tow to eat breakfast.

After finishing, he heads to the Lord Elf's shop to pick up his new translation device.

"Ah my good Gnoll, you are back!" The Lord Elf you remember from the previous day is still there and gives a slight bow. "As promised the base Weaving is already finished, we just need to fit the brace to you. It might take a while though, so if you don't have anywhere to be we can begin immediately." He gives a cheery smile.

Kort turns to Tipor and bends down. "Keep an eye out if ya ain't want to be watchin'" he whispers, giving a wink, "I'm jus' bein' a lil bit. Help ya self to whateva ya want." He sets out some food and water before proceeding with the Lord Elf.

'Kort':
It does in fact take a few hours and is just passing 11 AM when their work is finished. It fits surprisingly snugly, and is exceptionally comfortable, with a little bit of cushioned padding on the inside to prevent chaffing or hair being caught. There is a small button on the back that can be pressed to remove it painlessly and quickly. And the material is durable Steel and will add 3 to your Bite attack.

The Lord Elf takes a step back and gestures. "Well? What do you think?"
