Fifth Adventure 02: The Long Day

The Scan 2 results in you realizing, to your utter shock and amazement, that there is a hidden door here with some kind of specific activation requirement.

"Bah. Nothing on an actual activation requirement." Hanuel slips the mask away, disgruntled.

Ashakel approaches the wall and touches the part of it where there's supposed to be a door.

tab walks up to Han and pokes him in the arm

"can you not wait that when there are 2 yellow mages standing next to you, save it for when were not with you its cheaper that way"

Ashakel feels smooth, cold stone just like the rest of the walls.

The Lieutenant comes over, having overheard. He makes a swift gesture and the nearby guard leaps to action, rushing to his side. "Sir?!"

The Lieutenant's tone is flat. "Soldier, why is there a hidden wall in this segment of the mines?"

"I do not know, sir!"

"And why do you not know?" The Lieutenant turns and just looks down at the younger soldier. He is not glaring, nor scowling, but the weight of his gaze seems to make the younger soldier shrink.

"I... I will go collect the Capitaine at once!" And he rushes off.

"Better than you using up Mana and us running into trouble. It's not so expensive I can't afford it."

"So... we cannot force it. Maybe some kind of password is required."

Zeiss thinks.

"Any idea Z? You know magic."

Snarg concentrates heavily on the wall through squinted eyes. After a moment, he points defiantly at the wall and forcefully exclaims: "OPEN!"

He leans forward expectantly.

Z is staring at the door with professional curiosity. "It's soul-tied," they announce after a minute. "Looks like more than one soul opens it, but unless you have been hiding the raw power to over-ride a soul-lock somewhere amidst your band, we will need to find one of the people who can open it."

"Then we will need to find that woman. I'm glad to have you with us..."

Zeiss looks at his other colleagues for a few seconds. He then turns his attention to the hidden door.

"..........."

*Can't help but think how this whole soul thing was getting more and more fascinating. And annoying.*

"While we look for her, we should probably keep some of the Lieutenant's capable warriors on watch here."

He looks toward the lieutenant. "If she's inside, or manages to get back here before we find her, they could arrest her."

Lieutenant Torntoe harumphs. "I will stay here on watch. Do what you need to procure whomever it is that will assist in this endeavor. I have no doubt any true evidence is long gone, and that these bumbling soldiers will accomplish nothing, but perhaps we can find a clue in what is left behind. I do suggest, however, that you hurry."

"The Mayor's office, then."

"I'll stay here with the Lt. and send Dara with you. That way we can keep in contact."

"Let's talk to the Mayor as Higaide said. But let's not waste time. If he cannot open that door, we will have to ask him about that woman and find her."

"Yes, he's our only known connection to whatever this is. Let's go."

tab follows the rest keeping an eye out for the woman or anything out of the norm?

"Ya go an' be gettin' 'em. I'm checkin' out a bit more." Snarg says to the leaving members. He studies the hidden door for a moment and then begins scampering further down the hallway.

When walking towards the Mayor's office, Zeiss asks something of Z.

"There are three exit on the first floor of the building the Mayor is usually in. You, me and Dara should stay outside in case someone tries to make a run for it. What do you think?"

Snarg:
It takes some studying as this area is heavily frequented by hundreds of workers every day, but the pattern of tracks leading to this door is clear. Troll-prints, and what looks like someone small, a Mite or Dwarf or Gnome perhaps. All such tracks only lead outside.

"I'm not letting this door outa my sight." The troll stood his ground.

Everyone Who Is Heading Outside:
As you exit the mine back to the surface and into the sun you notice that several people are heading further north along the canyon wall, away from the office. Anyone curious enough to glance will notice something of a crowd has begun gathering in that direction.

"We need to double-time it.

Unless..."

"I'm going to go check out what's going on over there. Anyone else want to go?"
