Second Adventure 02: The Northern Cave

As the group moved into the cave single file, inch by inch trying hard not to shove anyone by accident into the river below, a few things become apparent as your eyes adjust to the light.

The entire cave is unnaturally dark.

The western side of the cave is somewhat small all things considered, consisting mostly of the ledge you are on now and what looks like a natural land bridge leading towards the much larger eastern side of the cave. Crouched near the water's edge, right by said landbridge, is a creature the likes of which none of you have ever seen before. It is fairly tall, only vaguely humanoid, and its form seems to be constantly in motion even as it stands there, immobile. Its 'flesh' seems to contain bits of blood, chunks of earth, strange glittering crystals, and what looks like a continuous torrent of Spacial energy.

"what is this monstrosity?"

"Hey, did anyone else see something glitter down there?"

"I'm keeping an eye on this monster. Not looking anywhere else right now."

Javan & Hanuel:
You draw upon your knowledge of the Elements, but all you can determine is that whatever you are looking at is a perversion of sorts of the natural Spacial element.

Araiguna:
You have never heard of, seen, nor read about anything like this before.

"Stand still! Do not provoke this beast or approach it any further, or this may be the end of us all!

A quiet rage builds up slowly in Hanuel, seeing the perversion that they had sensed in the rubble of the centaur spread to their own natural element, a low, unusual growl echoing from their throat, rage slowly marring their face.

Having had some time to adjust to the lighting you notice something else amiss. Sitting beside the ... creature... there is a strange, runed semi-circle, seemingly carved from solid Pyreal. It is very elaborate looking, and glimmers quietly in the dark.

*wispers* "out of sight, out of mind is my philosophy right now"

"W-what in the... that's... amazing", the fairy observes the creature with mixed awe and curiousity, then inform his allies about how that's a perversion of spacey elementals and that it should exist at all, all in a quiet manner.

Ashakel noticed the change in the fairy. He knows what rage means, and can sense it in others. "Calm down, fey, or you will be our doom. Try conversing to it."

"Why would I converse with an abomination and its ally?!" Hanuel snarls in a whispered tone, rage and disgust clear on their face.

Rory gaped at the abomination. He raised his battleaxe before he even noticed the woman standing nearby. He tensed up, battle-ready, furious at the source of his fear at the mouth of the cave. If he had his way, it would not scare him ever again.

"somehow i have a feeling they know we are here..."
*ready's crossbow with a fresh bolt*

"Because...", Ashakel spoke quietly "we know NOTHING about what is going on here. What if the ally is somehow controlled by the thing? Control your rage until the battle stars, THEN it will do you good."

Silently, Hanuel slipped a mask over their face, and drew one of their crossbows, ready to aim and fire at the slightest provocation.

Noticing the woman near the edge of the water, Araiguna wonders what it is she may be up to... maybe she is the one contaminating the river.

Near as you can tell, while something of a magical nature is happening with the Elf woman, it looks more like a byproduct than intentional.

Rory, suddenly aware of Higs' question, turns to look at the river, though he sees nothing. "What do you think it is?" He asked.

"I can kind of understand his rage, tho...", Javan said quietly, "That... thing... it makes my stomach feel funny just by looking at it"

"If we're going to find out, we'll have to make sure the water's safe to enter first. That means we have to deal with the elf, and if it comes to it, the freak as well.

"First i want to see what her problem is. I'm going, then coming back in the other side."

*Moves back toward the cave's exit, in order to cross the river at the nearest opportunity and go back the other side.*

It takes Higaide and those going with him almost 15 minutes to head south far enough to find a rope bridge, cross, and return.

Looking at the creature and the runed Semi circle, Gwydo is intrigued by the intricacies of the runes.
