Raver had absolutely no idea what he should do. With one last breath, smelling rot and decay, he decides at returning to the inn. He felt a whole day's work just went before him.

The deputy, who has violently thrown up twice from the sight of the corpses and the bitter smell in the air, turns towards the strange creature and mutters, "Um... I... guess... case closed."

Rory glanced over at Whis Kor, urging him silently to let the boy go. If this was all the help the constable would provide, he might as well have issued the guard's horses instead.

Whis Kor turns to the young deputy. "Case closed it is then," he mutters, sounding irritable. "You should probably head back to town, it can't be too comfortable out here in the biting wind."

The deputy paused as he was leaving and frowned at the strange creature. "I don't believe he ever said much about him. Lotta us deputies liked him, a lot... shame, he deserved better than this." He shakes his head. "We were pulled from the farms to defend the town proper. It was comforting knowing someone was out there keeping our livelihood safe."

"That's irrelevant" Pipes up Sethos from a short distance away. "The only remnant that we have the Earth elemental that we may have killed is in that bag, and I for one don't feel too comfortable with giving up on her just yet" He spits the words like poison, his face inches from Ravers, his eyes unblinking, before turning to Tabran "Keep the bag" and walking away.

The deputy looked at the alien creature whom he'd not met but a short while ago and sneers. "Spout your lies all you'd like. People like me, you watch, most of the town'll remember him a hero." Giving one last disgusted look at the barbarian he mounts his horse and heads back to town.

Raver rolled his eyes to follow the Burun walking away from him. His mind isn't working right. He turns to the corpses. Should they even leave these poor souls here? Forever in the desert to continue rotting?

The wolf stopped and waited to think. He needed to regain some sense out of this.

The lot of you pool ideas and resources to determine, mundanely and magically, what you can. The poison that is still eating away at the corpses is of a make no one present can identify, but it leaves a very distinct, bitter scent on the wind. In retrospect it is likely that scent the Lycanthropes smelled, rather than the corpses themselves.
There is some strange magical residue upon Harkun himself, specifically on his back, which looks like something one could use to move towards or search via. You aren't able to get many other details.
There are no tracks anywhere in sight other than your own. Whoever did this did something to ensure there would be none. You are not even positive if it was a single individual or several.

As the information was relayed to him, Rory pulled whatever clothing or armor off of Harkun's back to get a good look at whatever the source of the "magical residue" was.

"What could they possibly gain from killing the Gnoll and Kobold tribes? They were Harkun's problems... Unless, the Guardian was used to deal with the tribes all this time. And he failed..." Raver quickly turns to the deputy.

"Do you know when exactly did Harkun showed up on Al-Erat? Was it a month ago? Or did he always worked in this city?"

The deputy, getting irritated with the people who will not allow him to leave, responds brusquely: "Far as I know the Mayor hired him as he was passing through. He's from the southern lands, near Yaraq."

"Prolly about a month ago, when he was coming through town!" Sufficiently irritated, the deputy finally leaves, not listening to any further cries to come back, muttering under his breath about adventurers.
