Fourth Adventure 07: Fort in Ashes, & An Unexpected Visitor

"its ok humm... dear you look hurt we found you in the road"

*Kezrin moans and rolls over in the wagon.*

The woman shakes her head a little, trying to clear it as she squints up into the faces surrounding her. "Flu... who... who are you? Where's Flux?"

She begins to scoot herself backward on her elbows, feet providing only minor propulsion, as her eyes go wide and wild. "FLUX! FLUX, HELP ME, WHERE ARE YOU????," the woman screams as she raises her hand and waves it, blue-green sparks forming just above her fingertips and falling to the ground chaotically.

Zeiss let go of his rapier. And stay silent, with curiosity in his eyes.

Hanuel sets down the water skin and holds their hands up peacefully. "It's alright miss, we found you here alone. Just calm yourself."

The entire group suddenly has a wave of energy the likes of which you only have a second to comprehend washes over the group, stunning everyone present for a few seconds but otherwise leaving them unharmed. The echo of the woman's fear reverberates in your minds as it passes.

tab is hit my a wave of emotion and almost lose's track of what we was doing as he feels this woman's fear's

"its ok miss we arnt going to harm you my name is Tabran!"

how is it even possible to feel someone else's feelings?

The young woman scrambles onto her hands and knees, fumbling over herself trying to run, still shaking her head dazedly and screaming for Flux. Still disoriented she tips over a few times, each time taking longer to get back upright as she overexerts herself attempting to escape from familiar races yet unfamiliar faces. Finally she collapses on the ground in exhaustion, moaning and crying for Flux, asking where she is and who all these people around her are.

*Kezrin wakes as the wave of power passes over her. She sits up in the wagon stretching. Her hind claws stretch out and above her head. She turns and looks at the group around her noticing the strange woman.*

what is this... she...

Snarg yipes, a look of surprise on his face, "'ey, 'ey, no fryin'! We ain't be seein' no Flux 'round 'ere," he holds his hands up in front of him and points a thumb to his chest, "maybe ya tellin' Snarg what they're be lookin' like an' we helpin' ya. Maybe good bein' in town and sittin' down, gettin' a drink, yep?"

Hanuel walks over to her quickly. "I recommend the rest of you stay back."
Hanuel kneels beside the woman, setting a hand on her hair, and starts humming a calming lullaby.

*noticing the womans distress she gets out of the wagon and walks slowly toward her holding out a water skin.*

"Calm yourself. shhhhh We mean you no harm. We are in fact as surprised to find you as you seem to be at finding yourself here. I am Kezrinthka of Worker. May I ask your name and what this "Flux" might be?"

"And besides that?" Rory asked, not yet convinced. "There's nothing else? Nothing as important as a fort being burned to the ground?"

Spoiler:

"Oh god... oh god where am I? Where's my brother? What's going on? I..." She closes her mouth and looks around her fearfully before setting sight on a... creature, a bug-like creature... that makes her go pale and begin to shake and sweat. She attempts again to back away, working her mouth with little sound coming out other than the occasional stammer. Finally she gets her words and whispers shakily, "What... I don't... what are you?"

Tab still a little shaken by what just happen checks this new female for what spell that was

*Kezrin stops moving toward her.*

"I am Olthoi. I ... I look menacing I am aware. Apologies."

*She bows.*

"I promise I mean you no harm. You may call me Kez."

*She holds out a hand with the water skin.*

"Kez, can you step back? I know you want to help, but you're scaring her."
Hanuel turns back to the woman. "I'm known as Hanuel. I'm a Green Mage. The Olthoi there is Kez, she's gentle, though her appearance belies that. Can you stand?"

*At Hanuels request, she places the water skin back in her pack. Sol and "Fin" her light and spacial spirits escape in the process and begin dancing around her. She steps backwards smiling somewhat at their antics.*

That woman seems to calm down. Rory is annoying.

"This woman doesn't have the ears of an elf, like you. Why don't you go talk to her? Maybe you guys can go on a date."

Tabran:
Your knowledge of spells is significant but what you just saw was no spell, it came from the woman's mind directly. It was not a hostile attack, more a defensive one.

"My... my name is Fierneceal. I've never been known by another name. My brother, he's Flux. I... where is he? WHERE IS HE!?" Fierneceal hides her face in her arms and begins to sob, shoulders quaking and breath hitching as she's unable to control herself for a few moments.

She finally manages to calm herself and raises her head, looking at everyone intently through puffy, tear-filled eyes. She begins to speak lowly as she swivels her head back and forth, taking in everyone's appearance. "OKay. Okay, I can do this. This is not the worst position I've been in. I can do this. Where am I? How did I get here? Does anyone know? ANYONE?"

"Gee, thanks for giving me your blessing," Rory harumphed. Still, the fact that she has ears like his warranted his curiosity. Was she human? He walked over, keeping his distance from her, barely standing behind the others and trying to get a good look.

"Well, ya ain't walkin' - ya got no prints," Snarg points at the ground where she lay previously, "ya be havin' buncha cuts an' marks 'fore ya gettin' healed. Ya fightin' er somethin'?"

"It's alright dear, here." Hanuel offers her a hand to stand. "We don't know how you got here, but you're in Al-Jalima. We don't know where your brother is, but if you'd like, you can come with us to the nearest city and we can look there."

Fierneceal looks up at Hanuel and Snarg and smiles sadly, looking down and nodding her head slightly. "Fighting. Yes. Yes, there's been a lot of fighting these past days. I just saw a man get torn apart bit by bit with nothing but magic. I think I need to rest. Yes, rest. I'll go with you to find my brother. I need... I have nothing else right now. Nothing."
