Fourth Adventure 07: Fort in Ashes, & An Unexpected Visitor

"a trying to for us all Kez please put your.... claws away"

Fierneceal's face turns red then white with anger as she hears the human's retort and her fists clench up into balls, but she breathes deeply and chooses not to say anything. This group of folks have offered to help her find her brother, and it wouldn't do well to alienate them so soon.

"Fierneceal what can you tell us of your brother that may help us find him"

"Tab, now's not the time. She needs rest. We'll ask when we get to town."

*Another sound you never thought you'd hear Kez make issues from her. She snorts, and you hear her claws flex shut with an audible click. She turns and jogs in the direction Zeiss had rode off, catching up to him within a few minutes.*

"Dara, it's good to meet you. It's good to meet everyone really. I just need to find Flux. He's a rather unique sort, earth-bound, his appearance is (thusly) and we were last in a sanctuary of sorts. I blacked out, awoke here, and now this... this is where I am. There's nothing more I can tell you. I don't even KNOW where I am." Fierneceal sighs deeply and sits hard on the edge of the wagon, finally taking in her surroundings and looking curious as to their nature.

"Tab, please. Just get the group to move on, and give the woman some space. Questioning her now will just exhaust her more."

"Well, ya just south o' Al-Jalima. If ya tellin' me where ya sancturay's at, maybe I'm gettin' a better idea of how ya gettin' 'ere?" Snarg asks.

"My sanctuary? Hah. Hm. The sanctuary is on an island. I don't know what direction from here, as I don't know where I am. Names mean nothing to me. I need a map. Do you have a map?"

Rory brooded in the wagon, nursing his bourbon. He needed to cure his hangover, but he couldn't help drinking a bit more.

First they have to deal with a Burun and a Sclavi that nearly massacred a fort and a town. Then, said fort got blown to bits anyway, and now Fierneceal, a legendary witch-mage who was an idol where he grew up, was pointing her finger in his face, as if he had to answer for something. Well, he wasn't gonna cow-tow to that.

"Can we save this for town? The sun's coming up and we're better off discussing this somewhere less out in the open." Hanuel subtly reminds the group about how they might be being chased.

"I'm sorry. I was unaware of any danger you faced. Though I suppose I may be in the same danger, I really don't know. But yes, getting to town is a good idea. Shelter, food maybe, a bed..." Fierneceal's shoulders slump as she sits and waits for everyone to gather and head out to town, sighing occasionally and looking about the landscape with a modicum of curiosity.

"If you have any questions, I'd be glad to answer them. I'm not the most knowledgeable, but I know a few things."

"Fine, if yer wantin' some 'lone time wit' 'er go fer it." Snarg, clearly exasperated, throws up his hands and bounds away towards the town.

Those scouting ahead find Al-Zavros to be a simple, small town relatively speaking, about the size of Al-Erat. The town is dominated by a large central market area which exclusively sells items manufactured by Provincial Trading Company. The influences of this are seen and felt immediately, as guards bearing the badge of the IGA. They look rather prim and professional for their reputation, though it occurs to you that if the PTC has a vested interest in this town they would want to keep their image up.

There is one inn in the town, run by the PTC of course, which caters to travelers and the like.

"wow i want expecting it to be so... busy"

"i say we get rooms for the night and rest and talk over what were doing after the city"

Zeiss leaves his horse at the inn and goes around the town. After that, he goes to sleep at the inn.

Snarg runs up to the inn and skids to a stop, almost slamming in to the front door. Standing back up, he furiously dusts himself off, opens the door, and steps inside.

Once they reached the Inn, Hanuel got a room for Fiernaceal, Dara, and themselves. They brought up food, then left to give Fiernaceal some private time, leaving Dara to keep people out before heading to the market.

Zeiss:
News of the destruction at Fort Bleached Bones has spread with disturbing speed as it is already in conversations here. The popular rumor going around is that the Kingdom of Aluvia has fostered the incident to claim Naverre for itself.
You hear that as long-distance trade routes are getting shut down one by one, local routes like the one the PTC has set up here to Al-Jalima are starting to see a spike in profit. In some cases this has turned nasty due to price gouging.
There are several unsubstantiated rumors about the Sho pulling their Airfleet out of its holding patrol pattern in Yanshi. People are very anxious about this fact, more so then anything else so far, as they believe it can only mean something horrible, and very soon. Everybody knows an Airship can cross the continent in a mere matter of days.

As soon as Rory had a free moment, he followed Hanuel out to the market. "Hey," he said, raising his voice, "you got a minute?" He was clearly still flustered by recent events.

The local Inn, Crowning Glory, is easily the nicest inn any of you have seen in your lives. It is very large, has a wide selection of good and expensive foods, and the rooms are well appointed with extremely comfortable, temperature-adjustable beds and silk-lined pillows, with veils that can make it seem as though it is night even when it is mid-day. It also has an unheard of luxury for an inn; private shower and baths for each room, which will produce water of whatever desired temperature and a wide selection of scented soaps designed to cater to a large audience of species, ranging from Bogsyrup to Honeydew to Pomegranate and everything in between. The rooms are, of course, quite pricey, going for 50g a pop, but that also purchases you a two night stay and gets you two free meals down at the restaurant area.

*Kezrin went up to the room Dara was guarding. She pulled out her journal, flipped it open to the map she had drawn and slid it under the door. Calling through. *

"You wanted to know where we are. I've circled the town for you. Please return the book to me when you are finished."

*she's fairly certain the woman will know who is speaking she does have a distinctive voice after all.*
